The family of a second-grade student at a Texas elementary school says their daughter’s teacher took her Bible away during a “read to myself” session.

The Liberty Institute, a nonprofit legal group specializing in religious liberty cases, says the family reached out for assistance after a teacher at Hamilton Elementary in Cypress allegedly told the girl not to bring the Bible back to school again.

The teacher reportedly said the Bible is inappropriate reading material.

You must be one of those Kalifornia or North Eastern transplants who came to our great state of freedom. Sweetie, move back where you came from. We live our RED
STATE conservative ways. We don’t want progressive, like the place you must have come from. Find another state to live in. We like our conservative ways.

Remember when Russia and China were officially atheist nations, and the United States was overwhelmingly Christian? My how times change.

Very likely that the USA will have to go what they went through, or perhaps worse, in order to bring the nation back to God.

How sad to deny a child who actually wants to read. Also sad that the Bible was systematically removed from the education system.

I recently received a reproduction copy of "The New England Primer", originally published in Boston in 1690, which lasted as the country's number one reader for well over 240 years.

It was a complete surprise to me how much the Bible was used by this textbook to teach children to read. The Founders, as well as millions of Americans since, learned to read from the "Primer" and the Bible. I fear those days are long gone from our public school system. I also fear for our society.

Better yet, have two kids who sit beside each other bring in a Koran and Bible, and watch the teacher’s head explode as she decides what to do about it. That’s the kind of cognitive dissonance I’d pay to see...

Some people have to learn the hard way. Millions of Americans apparently must.
