A Brief Update on Arizona’s Effort to Pass Article V Legislation.

We still see freeper attempts to connect Article V supporters with Soros.

Yup... and they're nothing if not persistent! There's no argument that there are legions of Leftists out there who would love nothing more than to gin up enough support for their own COS and virtually re-write the Constitution, defiling, defacing and erasing everything that we conservatives hold sacred

But because it's the state legislatures that have to apply for the call, and not the filthy masses of urban leeches who lust after more free shit, they can't get the numbers and they know it. So, they do the next best thing... they keep up the appearance of a legitimate A5 effort, and convince a bunch of already paranoid knuckleheads that they are us, or we are them, or whatever convoluted construct that they've managed to convince the Birchers of. And there's no prying them away from that fear.

To an extent, I don't blame them (the fear-mongers), and I actually agree with them that this is a HUGE issue that should be approached with as much preparation, forethought and caution as possible. But where we part ways is when they refuse to even listen to the other side of their arguments, if you can even call them that. It's literally like talking to an old 33-RPM phonograph record... no matter what you say, you get the same thing back every time - it's old and scratchy and skipping all over the place and repeating and repeating and repeating - as if you never said anything!

So why even bother.

You and I have talked about this before... both the Birchers and the Eagle Forum are formidable, rock-ribbed conservative organizations on so many other critical issues that it literally hurts to know that if we ever joined together, if the leaders of the A5 movements could somehow strike a compromise with them, like maybe a compact on this one issue in exchange for a seat at the table, and I have no idea how that would work, but whatever... we would be unstoppable. We would be that "Vast Right Wing Conservative Behemoth" that Bill Clinton used to whine about. Yeah... when you imagine the potential, it just hurts.

But, that's what the Left does. They promise everything to everyone, but never quite manage to provide anything. But they're really good at taking things away... I mean really good... if Soros can't have his COS, he's gonna make damned sure that we can't have ours... or he's gonna die trying... I can only hope.

In order to believe that a Convention of the States presents a greater threat to liberty than our current state of politics one must believe:

1. The Constitution is not being amended by three women in black robes +1 liberal in black robes +1 swing vote on a case by case basis.

2. The Constitution is not being amended at the caprice of the president by executive order.

3. The Constitution is not being amended at the caprice of the president when he chooses which laws he will "faithfully" execute.

4. The Constitution is not being amended daily by regulation done by an unaccountable bureaucracy.

5. The Constitution is not being amended by simply being ignored.

6. The Constitution is not being amended by international treaty.

7. The Constitution is not being amended by Executive Order creating treaty powers depriving citizens of liberty as codified in the Bill of Rights.

8. The Constitution is not being amended by international bureaucracies such as, UN, GATT, World Bank, etc.

9. The Constitution is not being amended by the Federal Reserve Bank without reference to the will of the people.

10. The federal government under our current "constitutional" regime has suddenly become capable of reforming itself, balancing the budget and containing the debt.

11. The national debt of the United States is sustainable and will not cause the American constitutional system and our economy to crash and with them our representative democracy, the rule of law, and the Constitution, such as it is, itself.

12. The Republican Party, presuming it gains a majority in the House and the Senate and gains the White House, will now do what is failed to do even under Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush and balance the budget, reduce the debt, stop regulating, reform the tax system, end crony capitalism, appoint judges who will not betray us and, finally, listen to the people.

13. That a runaway Convention of the States will occur, that it will persuade the delegates from conservative states, that it will be ratified by three quarters of the states' legislatures among whom conservatives control a majority, and the end result will somehow be worse than what we have now.

14. If we do nothing everything will be fine; if we keep doing what we have been doing everything will be fine; we have all the time in the world.
