U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell said Thursday that his comments to a local newspaper that it is “not my job” to bring employment to a struggling Kentucky county were taken out of context.

For a story in the Beattyville Enterprise, McConnell was asked what he would do to bring jobs to Lee County, where the unemployment rate is 12.8 percent.

“That is not my job. It is the primary responsibility of the state Commerce Cabinet,” the paper quoted McConnell in its story Thursday, which ran on the paper’s front page.

McConnell said in a statement Thursday that his comments were taken out of context. …

Its his job to get government out of the way so people can create their own jobs.

Seriously, if you are dependent on a state department of commerce to create jobs, you are already toast. McConnell doesn’t know that, which is why he needs to retire.

The way to bring jobs to KY, is to bring jobs to America. They need to restore the import tariffs and lower income taxes. That will help all states

So was your story about Matt Bevin speaking at a cockfight ‘taken out of context’.

Ironically, he is right. Creating jobs is not the Senate's business.

He’s correct that it’s not personally his job. But the liberal media can’t tell the truth as to who are the job creators; ideologically, they push the line that the central government must do this.

One of his latest ads says he is saving Kentucky jobs by sponsoring legislation to make it easier to open new coal mines. He has no clue that miners are losing their jobs because the EPA is forcing the closure of coal fired power plants.

At least McConnell didn't say "why would I want to do that?" like Harry Reid.

Maybe he’s trying to get more coal shipped off to Red China, like his lord and master Obama is doing.

Many years ago one of my computer science professors told me, after a conversation turned political, that his voting philosophy was simply this: if the candidate currently holds the office he probably no longer deserves it. In other words, you should think twice (or more) before you vote for incumbents. In accordance with my professor’s advice, I won’t be voting for McConnell.

He was right, of course, it is not the “job” of a U.S. Senator to find people jobs in some town.

We need to get out of the business of promising a “better national jobs program”, because the best national “jobs” program is to stop the federal government from disrupting businesses through regulation and oversight, so the businesses can spend that money on improving their companies and hiring more employees.
