I am encouraged by the comments made here by the first three Freepers- thanks.

I just tuned into the T/V and hastened to inform all and sundry of yet another casualty or the anti-racism hit squads. This one is far more damaging. I found that GOP J has put in the link about an owner of the NBA Clippers. Oh me, oh my. (old country expression) Read on, and shudder.

I just have to wonder. I mean I know they have lists of us all and probably profiles to match each name. So why bother getting into it with people they know won’t play along?

Most Freepers aren’t libs or moderates. All it does in increase our determination every time a shill reads their script. But I guess they really aren’t that smart so that would explain it. I mean hell, they pushed Romney and now Jeb as ‘conservatives’ thinking someone would believe it. I mean actually ‘believe’ it.

Your post #134 well taken but.....

I do beg to differ in the criticism of Rancher Bundy. Sure he walked right into a hornets nest. I wonder if he used a computer to the effect that he was really well up on their methods? Look how Sarah Palin, an intelligent and savvy political figure, walked into a trap with Couric. The network edited her 18 times, before they showed what they deemed was most damaging. Look at what they did to decent guy Dan Quayle!

These were far more skilled and adept than Rancher Bundy. Anyway, we can agree to disagree. (cordially).

Doc would say you are just too high strung and the strain seems to be more than you can bear.

This is not about you. Bundy has been standing up to the feds on this issue for over 20 years. It is his stand. I never heard him say he was doing this for anyone else or that he thought of himself as someone to lead us against things we don’t agree with. Those who want to join him are free to and those that don’t are also free not to, for any reason at all. I doubt you even grasp what he is all about, what his issues are about, what his struggle is all about. Seems you are looking for someone to come and save all of us. That is like young girls waiting for a knight to come rescue them. There is no knight, and if one does happen to show up, I can assure you someone will have to clean up after his horse.

We each need to stand up for what is right and struggle against what is wrong. The problem with waiting for someone else to do it is it likely will never get done. There is no reason we can’t all stand against the way the BLM does things, the heavy handedness of the government, the militarization of the government. If it means so much to you, or to anyone they can call, email, write, speak out whenever possible. If enough of us care then change will happen.

When the Bundy story first broke on national news someone said it wasn’t about Bundy, cattle, or turtles. That is true, it is still about what it was always about. Why would you let the liberals distract you from the issues?

True enough - but Bundy was the face of this particular battle. I wish we all were more devoted to the cause than to the man - but look how the discussion has shifted away from the narrow, winnable property rights issue to a broad range of racism, slavery, liberal rules, RINOS and all government overreach.

So why didn’t you bring your brother’s issues out and make a stand? Why have you not become that perfect leader with no flaws that you expect Bundy to be?

Why do we need to follow Bundy anywhere?

He’s wrong about slavery keeping families together. It didn’t.

It did some of the time. Which is better than welfare rules which won't allow the mother to get benefits if her husband is present in the household. That requires the family be broken up.

The fight is a bout more than a few hundred head of cattle and one rancher. The fight is about government enslaving the population by doing things it has no Constitutional authority to do, from owning 85% of Nevada to running the Democrap Plantation and the entire HHS monstrosity.

Bundy merely pointed out another front in the war, one which affects millions of people, which has destroyed the progress the black community had made up into the mid 60s by destroying the black family with handouts and rules.

While not all black families are thus affected, the statistics clearly show that blacks have been severely negatively impacted by the "Great Society" and "the War on Poverty", which have subsidized illegitimacy, sloth, and the festering messes of the urban inner cities.

This is far bigger than any cattle ranch, and pointing out the problem (Federal Government) is on topic, if anyone takes a moment to think about it.

Rather than think, though, the supposed pundits have been scattered by the appearance of the word "racism", and many of the selfsame people who could have retained relevance in the political arena by doing a little research (and hearing the full set of remarks instead of the NYT edit) have exposed themselves as the knee-jerk types they really are, sans backbone, sans thought.

Whether people like the message or not, it is there, it is correct, and it is relevant to the issue of Federal overreach--fundamentally, the usurpation of power by the Federal Government over the daily lives of American Citizens. That he chose issues more destructive than screw shaped light bulbs and low-flow toilets makes the point no less germane.

If the issue is Federal overreach, pray tell where in US History has the Federal Government so overstepped its Constitutional authority as to spend trillions of dollars reaped at gunpoint from the pockets of productive Americans to be doled out to those who will live under certain prescribed conditions--to the point where those conditions make it extraordinarily difficult to be self-sufficient once one has lived under them to receive that 'aid'?

The entire Welfare State is Federal overreach. It is the 800 lb gorilla in the room, which everyone looks around because those who have suffered the most harm happen to be from a demographic which the architects of the plan have deemed to be beyond discussion.

Quit playing their tune and look at what is going on, will you?

As far as I know, the issue Hage won on was actually based on the unfair/illegal treatment he had received from the BLM, that they had systematically tried to put him out of business, etc. Hage used that in a countersuit. Hage fought on many issues, in different cases but that is the only one he won on. It was overturned later but that was his only winning issue to date.

I’m surprised at how many believe that truth is determined by a court decision in the Bundy land case.

Have they forgotten that they disagree with Roe v Wade and many, many other court decisions?

We think they are wrong about the constitution, and that if the law supports them, then it is itself unconstitutional.

This is NOT an uncommon decision in the US of A.

“The courts decided so Bundy’s land claim must be wrong.”

Really? I didn’t know it worked that way around here.

They do it “for the lurkers” and some are no doubt paid.

They also want to sow defeatism. Many of them post defeatist comments all the time.

Yea but they get made fools of. If they were doing it for the lurkers it an even dumber strategy than it looks like since the takeaway is that these people are blithering idiots.

I mean just look at the current example. Hammered on all sides, every argument refuted soundly and he sits there like he’s reading the script over and over. What lurker in their right mind could possibly leave this thread thinking his arguments won the day?

I can see the logic in playing to the crowd, sure. 100%. But not playing and looking like John Kerry while doing it.
