3.3% Pay Raise Bill Gets More Co-sponsors

April 25, 2014

More lawmakers have signed on to co-sponsor a bill that would give federal employees a 3.3% pay raise in 2015. The Federal Adjustment of Income Rates (FAIR) Act, introduced by Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia in March, recognizes the spike in attrition rate among federal workers that has gone up by 35% since 2009.

Because of repeated attacks on their pay and benefits, many federal employees are questioning why they should remain in federal service while many college graduates shun a federal career.

The following are the bill’s co-sponsors so far:

TOPICS: Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS:
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union representing 650,000 federal and D.C. government workers nationwide and overseas. Workers in virtually all functions of government at every federal agency depend upon AFGE for legal representation, legislative advocacy, technical expertise and informational services.

AFGE believes that all unions should belong to the house of labor and has been nationally affiliated with the AFL-CIO since AFGE was founded in 1932.

Do it every year. Best way to get the Fed’s desired inflation rate rolling.

Unionized government workers = communists. They are not our servants, they want to be our masters.

“Because of repeated attacks on their pay and benefits, many federal employees are questioning why they should remain in federal service while many college graduates shun a federal career.”

I hear the same bellyaching from college professors and administrators: “I could make so much more money in the private sector!”
So the professors farm out as much of their work as they can to GTAs and GRAs, run their consulting companies, and check in with their offices every other day or so.
So I say to the feebs the same thing I say to the eggheads: “If you don’t think you’re getting paid what you’re worth, then quit! But stop with the damned whinging ... “.

Federal government is at least a hundred times bigger than it needs to be, but now with Obamacare ... well, we ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.
The federal Wesley Mouch’s (particularly the IRS) eating out our substance, bitching about their pay and benefits and making our lives, and the Bundys’ lives, miserable are going to be sprouting like dandelions in the years ahead.

Go Galt! Starve the beast.

A closure sign is seen at the World War II memorial (with the Lincoln memorial in the distance) in Washington, DC, on October 1, 2013.

It reminds me of the bank crisis, when the CEOs and other execs of the banks that brought the economy to its knees were still given huge salaries and bonuses. The reason given: they were irreplaceable!

Government workers, the tradition used to be, got paid a bit less than private sector employees. It was a trade-off for the job security, vacations, benefits and other benefits of government employees.

Until the unemployment rate is down to a real 4% or so, how about giving gov employees a 10% cut in pay?

Cut every federal workers pay by at least 25% would be a more realistic solution!

Lets be a little more clear when we say bank execs were the cause of financial collapse. That is the liberal meme for those against free enterprise. The Ferral Gubmint utilizing the CRA pressured banks through threat of legislation and fines that the down drodden who weren’t worth a spit on paying a loan back deserved homes as a right. They staged 2 completely unconstituional entities known as fannie and freddie to help absorb that risk. Therefore any smart business person to protect its shareholders and company viability will utilize any investment vehicle to realize a profit; hence packaging loans and send off to market to trade. The government created the mess.

That they did. And local banks were put out of business. But those high-salaried bankers? If they knew it was wrong they had a moral obligation to quit, or at least accept blame for not refusing to go along. If they didn't see it coming, they didn't deserve the salaries to begin with. They got blinded by the huge paychecks.

Yeah, I'm really that "pollyanna" about stuff like that.

Try being a white male applying for federal service and see how far they get. I know 90% disabled veterans who were deemed qualified then not hired.
