I don't think what Bundy said is cause to vilify him, but knowing that he was giving an interview to a leftist org,, why would he say anything that could be construed as racist? If he had said the same things to FOX News, even many conservatives would still have excoriated him for saying anything about slavery being good for blacks and calling black people negroes.

The fact that he made comments at all about black people that could be published made me wonder about him. I sympathize with his cause, but he sure didn't do himself or conservatives any favors with his ill-considered words.

Sounds to me like he wasn’t really aware there was a “journalist” present when the remarks were made initially. The account I read said that he told the press initially he would “be there every day to answer questions”. After several days the press got bored and this day they were gone. The “journalist” in question was THE ONLY one. Supporters began discussing things and she “lead the witness” to Watts and race. Not to let Bundy off, but did he know she was a journalist when he agreed to respond to her? What I read suggests that she did not. Maybe she did and it was clear to him but the account I read left me asking if that was the case.
In my mind, sort of like a court of law, I suppose, splashing what was discussed all over the front page of the NY Slimes is pretty dishonest if the man in question was not aware the questioner was a “journalist”. Sort of like taping a conversation. If the one talking isn’t aware of the tape it is going to be hard to bring it in as evidence and in some states it will actually get YOU prosecuted.
In fact, the whole thing reeks of “ambush” “journalism” IMHO and has from the start and the more I learn about it the more convinced I am.
