“Stay in school and while there, actually learn. Join some clubs, volunteer, hang out with the smart kids and emulate them. Go to college or trade school. Get a job and prove yourself and work your way up. Get married to someone with a good education and good job prospects. Buy a home and have a child or two and teach your children well.”

Unfortunately, the above is not too darned easy these days for (formerly) middle-class WHITE kids, given the garbage public schools, policies and regulations making it surprisingly difficult to get any good training job when you are under 18, and the apparently permanently-miserable economy. For example, I welded and drove a forklift when I was in high school. That would get a company closed down and quite likely, the officers of it in jail today.

And graduating from high school doesn’t mean what it used to.

My daughter just happened to stop by to see her former high school English teacher who has retired. Her teacher was bemoaning the fact that she was forced to pass students who actually failed. One of them had missed sixty days of class, yet the principal told her she had to pass him.

Our education system is a big joke, just like Obama.
