Obamacare deals blow to one-doctor medicine
San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | April 26, 2014 | By Dan McSwain

Despite the predictions of fortune tellers in politics and think tanks, we won’t know for years whether the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, will ultimately leave people sicker or healthier, richer or poorer.

Yet already the law is speeding the demise of an American small-business institution; the one-doctor medical practice.

In a slow-motion version of the problems that crippled online insurance “exchanges” for months, doctors who see patients under Medicare and Medi-Cal programs have been forced by federal law to install expensive, complex software systems that sharply reduce time for patients.

For many doctors, it’s the final straw. Surveys suggest that older physicians are retiring in high numbers. Younger ones are closing practices and taking jobs with integrated health systems.

We've enrolled over 100 million people...gotten the costs on trans sexual surgery down...and are well on our way towards the final utopia here...

just because a few thousand malcontent old coots dont like computers....is no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water...

I'll go out on a limb and predict the following:

Five years in:

Rich, powerful or "connected"=full, immediate access to the finest health care in the world

Middle class="sorry,Doctor Smith doesn't take your plan" or "sorry,Dr Smith can't see you until October"...

Occupants of the welfare hammock=Who gives a rat's a$$?

You don't know? I direct your attention to the disgusting conditions at the VA Hospital in Phoenix Az. THAT is socialized medicine at work. The result is poor care, no care and postponed until death care.

They are disappearing because they are no longer needed. We will not be seeing doctors, we will be seeing nurse practitioners or physicians assistants. Didn’t you get Zeke Emmanuel’s memo?

If people don’t end up sicker, it will be because they can’t afford to see their doctor as often as before.

You're right on this Gay State. The elites will have it much better - the middle class much worse... the 'poor' will be given promises - like they always are - that if they vote for a democrat it'll get better.,,

That was the plan all along and to move us to a single-payer plan. My prediction (not original)-in the next five years we will witness the rise of off-shore hospitals, clinics,
and private practices-on a cash basis only.

For single payer to be successful, any private contracting between health care professionals and individuals will be outlawed!!

Actually yes we do.

It will leave people sicker and poorer.

Just because reality does not fit with your template does not mean that it does not exist.

Osama Obama is on reacord (I've seen the film clip) as saying that his ultimate dream for this country is CanadaCare.I've done lots and lots of research on the Canadian health system, which is entirely controlled by the government. In one Canadian province in 2012 (I think it was 2012) only 57% of patients needing a hip replacement got one within 6 months of it having been determined that one was needed.A few years back,I,OTOH...an ordinary middle class guy (not rich, poor, powerful *or* connected)..was in the recovery room of a major Boston hospital sporting some new titanium *12 business days* after having called to set up an initial consultation with the surgeon.

Also,in another Canadian province (British Columbia, one of their most heavily populated) there's at least one type of open heart surgery for which patients can, under government guidelines, expect to wait up to 6 months.

I just thanks God that neither the Obamas, the Clintons, the Soros family nor the Boehner family will ever have to wait 6 *hours* for *any* type of open heart surgery.

Gang/collective/group/government vs. individual.

* RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

Socialism Is Legal Plunder - Bastiat

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Thus the beneficiaries are spared the shame, danger, and scruple which their acts would otherwise involve. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons, and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim — when he defends himself — as a criminal. - The Law Defends Plunder - Bastiat

At a tea at his house the year before, Perkins had sat beside Justice Harlan Stone, and he gave her a tip. She had confided her fears that any great social insurance system would be rejected by the court. Not so, he said, and whispered back the solution: “The taxing power of the federal government is sufficient for everything you want and need.” If the Social Security Act was formulated as a tax, and not a government insurance, it could get through. - p.229; The Chicken Versus the Eagle; The Forgotten Man - Amity Shlaes

Let’s interview Roberts of SCOTUS (Socialist Court Of The United States) to get his take on this and current events with regards to his monumental decision.

It was only ‘the plan all along’ if Democrats are bigger liars than even we thought....

What’s your take? Are they the scum of the earth?

My father was a solo practice doctor in a small town and before he retired he was bogged down with Medicare and Medicaid forms. He used to spend his weekends filing paperwork. He would never have been able to cope with Obamacare.

You have that right. I can imagine clinics in the Bahamas, or on board ships which go out into international waters before opening for business (just like gambling vessels.) These will thrive for those who can afford it.

I remember when Hillarycare was being pushed. Hillary said we had too many doctors. Why socialists hate doctors, I’m not sure. Probably because most are self employed.

One of my wife’s doctors carries a lap top computer around to enter the government required information. It’s painful to see him try to juggle the computer and the patient files. I asked him about voice recognition and he said Dragon did not work well with a Bronx accent. Another doctor has a nurse/assistant follow him around. These can’t be helpful to their bottom lines.

And usually well off. Never mind that they have paid for 12-15 more years of higher education. 4 years college, 4 years Medical school, 1 year internship, 3 or more years Residency and then any other specialty training. Buh-bye best medical care in the world. Hello Socialized medicine.
