“Many just buy Asian kids...”
Wow. I usually don’t respond to people who think that foreign adoption is “unnatural” or that we “buy” slaves but since this is my daughter’s eighth birthday.. I’m going to chime in. We didn’t buy her. We went through an adoption process that is far more difficult and painful than having bio children (to which I can speak since we have two). Fingerprints, medical background reports, financial reports, home study, home investigation, interviews with neighbors/friends/relatives and the list goes on and on and on. Two and a half years later, we were BLESSED with a 10 1/2 month Chinese baby girl.
I thank God each and every day for her. She is a joy, smart as a whip, loving, kind and adorable. People think she is the “lucky” one. In China, there is a word for the orphans that get adopted that loosely translates into “lucky ones”. However, we are the lucky ones.
I use the term “buy” when I see people who couldn’t pass the most rudimentary check (like Madonna or other deviants) with adopted kids. I think normal people who adopt usually are big-hearted and saving them from a crappy life.
