U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm was charged in a 20-count indictment Monday and turned himself in to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Rep. Grimm was charged with filing false tax returns, failing to report about $1 million to taxing authorities, committing mail and health care fraud, hiring illegal immigrants, and other crimes, according to Loretta Lynch, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

I’ve yet to read anything that actually says what he allegedly did, i.e., what fraudulent acts he supposedly committed.
I can only surmise that the prosecutors held a press conference and announced the indictment without providing any facts.
And reporters dutifully reported.

Grimm was charged Monday in a 20-count indictment that accuses him of under-reporting the payroll and earnings of the Upper East Side restaurant, Healthalicious, which he ran from 2007 to 2010. He was being arraigned in federal court.
“Michael Grimm never met a tax he didn’t lie to evade,” U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch said.
Prosecutors say Grimm employed a number of immigrant workers who did not have legal status to work in the U.S., and paid them in cash — wages that were not reported to the government. He also allegedly “substantially under-reported” the restaurant’s gross receipts, lowering its taxes.

“While Grimm’s attorney has proclaimed the lawmaker’s innocence, the charges and the investigation have provided an opening for his Democratic opponent, former New York City councilman Domenic Recchia, who barnstormed the congressional district over the weekend.
Recchia has tried to keep the campaign focused on kitchen-table issues, but he took indirect swipes at the congressman’s legal problems. “It’s very troubling what has transpired,” he said, suggesting that the criminal case will make it harder for Grimm to serve his constituents. “They want someone who is going to focus on them 100 percent.”
Despite Grimm’s legal predicament, Republicans are probably stuck with the embattled congressman on the ballot because the filing deadline for candidates passed two weeks ago. Some New York Republicans are angry about the timing of the charges, fearful that the case could get worse and leave them without a viable candidate in November. Grimm is the only Republican who represents any part of New York City.
The lawmaker’s attorney, William McGinley, denies that Grimm violated any laws and predicted that he “will be vindicated” when the case is concluded.”

All trumped up bullcrap. The asshat democrats who believe that their guy has a chance to win are sadly mistaken. They had their knives out from Grimm since he took office.
Where did the leftie opposition get their information?

But hiring illegal immigrations? How selective is the prosecution of that one?
If we can’t win his district in 2016 after 3 years of De Blasio we have bigger problems.
Grimm like Schock, Kinzinger and Cantor could be there for a decade wasting the seat.
