Seventy years ago give or take, a timid minority that sought to get-along and integrate into society was targeted for destruction, despite being industrious, family oriented, and successful. Fast forward. Our prisons are packed disproportionately with a certain demographic, while crime statistics only reinforce the obvious. Entire cities are no-go areas. How does this story end?

that was the baseball league... but yes... it was professional sports.

The Black Fives Era In Perspective

Just after the game of basketball was invented in 1891, teams were called “fives” in reference to their five starting players.

Basketball, like American society, was racially segregated. Teams made up entirely of African American players were often known as “colored quints,” “Negro cagers,” or “black fives.”

The sport remained divided from 1904 — when basketball was first introduced to African Americans on a wide scale organized basis — until the racial integration of the National Basketball League in the 1940s and the National Basketball Association in 1950.

and the guy making this inane suggestion about segregated leagues...cant do a simple search on the net yet??

I can’t even watch or listen to the one we’re housing in DC let alone a collection of special round ballers. I see back lashes growing in several areas.

Better take a long look at the race of the $$$ paying fans in the seats. Pull this crap and they won't be there, and neither will your multi-million dollar salaries.

You're more than welcome to make your racist statement, but that doesn't mean the fans you diss are going to continue to support you in that effort...

Actions have consequences...

Are they going for segregation again? Since the blacks are mistreated in basketball and the black kids are unfairly chastised in the schools?

Isn’t Larry white?

How would an all black NBA be any different then the current NBA? Maybe white people wouldnt be allowed to buy tickets?

Just think what would happen if someone proposed an all white league.

He does have a good point. If you had NBA teams with black owners in the same proportion that the NBA has black players, the Don Sterling story wouldn’t even make the news and he’d be laughed out of the room by his fellow owners.
