Police investigating Cliven Bundy-related threats to Harry Reid
Politico ^ | April 29, 2014 | By MANU RAJU

Federal law enforcement officials are investigating threats made against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the aftermath of his sharp-edged attacks against Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, sources said Monday.

Reid has not minced words about Bundy’s battle with the Bureau of Land Management, referring to Bundy’s supporters as “domestic terrorists” and the rancher himself as a “hateful racist.” As he’s stepped up his criticism, Reid has been the subject of threats himself, prompting an increase in his own security detail in recent days, people familiar with the matter said Monday.

Shennell Antrobus, a spokesman for the U.S. Capitol Police, declined to comment on the number of security personnel assigned to Reid or the nature of the threats against the Democratic leader. But he confirmed that the police are investigating “threatening statements” made against the majority leader.

“We are currently looking into threatening statements made against Sen. Reid as part of an ongoing investigation,” Antrobus said.

Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson declined to comment. It’s not unusual for a politician in such a position of power to be the subject of threats; federal officials routinely investigate threats made against leaders of all stripes.

But the Reid inquiry comes as other Democrats are raising security concerns over the Bundy episode.

OK Harry, I love you (based on hate-speech theory that two hates makes a love).

Only a matter of time until Reid's supply runs dry.

It’s OK for reid to threaten the “little people” but woe to those who defend themselves by like remarks!

I hope someone does crack Reid’s stupid head.
I have no intention of doing so and represent no threat to anyone, but when and if someone does, I will chuckle.
About time these sleazy, mouthy politicians reap what they sow.

Just my crack from the peanut gallery.

Never heard of federal investigation when Joe Arpio received a mail bomb (was it last year?). Barely saw any articles about it.

And we all understand that Reid’s characterization of Bundy as a “racist” and “domestic terrorist”, etc,

are precursors to justifying taking violent action against him.

Reid/leftists would deny that, but we understand where they’re going.

How far above the law is Reid? As a Senator is he not allowed to say anything he wants? Or, are there limits?

After all, Reid has powerful friends and relatives in key positions to carry out his desire to enforce his version of the law.

Ok. But will he confirm that the police are investigating “threatening statements” made by the majority leader.

Only took 20 years???

;-)

I guess the lesson learned from this is no matter how well liked the politician is, the first time you hear that should have been the absolutely last time that person would ever hold an elected office...

Even if it is assumed, or perceived by the constituency, the next time those polls open, that person needs to learn a new word...It’s called “unemployment”...

But alas, most voters (not all) have the political attention span of a gnat...

He is allowed to say anything he wants "On the Senate Floor" but he is subject to the laws for what he says elsewhere.

Why does a senator have a security detail and why am I paying for such a thing? Until fairly recently, even former presidents (and for that matter, presidents in office) didn’t have guards. Do senators and other officeholders feel themselves apart from the people they supposedly represent? If so, they should resign immediately. Imperial Rome didn’t even have a set-up like this.

They feel threatened. As they should. Most are worthless scum and should be in jail. Right after they are horse whipped.

Reid, an elected official, ostensibly a “public servant”, is allowed to blatantly threaten the peasants and nothing is done to reign him in. But a taxpaying citizen, Bundy, refuses to kow-tow to the big bad senator, and he gets “investigated”. This is not the America of my forefathers, or the one I grew up in.

The FBI and postal inspectors arrested someone, so I would imagine there was an investigation. He goes on trial in a couple months. He allegedly was trying to frame a former business partner he was feuding with.

“Reid, “Something will happen to stop Bundy.””

Maybe something will happen to stop Reid after all. I don’t think too many of will either be sadden or surprised by such a ‘tragedy’.

Hairy Reid is every-bit the demon he accuses others of being.
