I was never an aviator, but I did go through SERE and all its glory.

I went through SERE in 1966, and was not water boarded. Waterboarding in SERE school began much later.

HST, we were subjected to some mild forms of torture while “confined” in a mock POW camp at the end of our SERE week. We knew the North Vietnamese were torturing our POWs, so the PTB wanted us to have some idea of what to expect if we became POWs.

It was MOST educational!

I have an enormous amount of respect for the WW II, Korean War and the Vietnam era POWs!
