I took a lot of crap here on FreeRepublic from well-meaning people who thought I was crazy for suggesting that the Republican Party has no interest in overturning Obamacare.

This whole monstrosity has always had one major underlying purpose: to begin the transition away from employer-paid medical insurance, thereby eliminating one of the biggest line items from the expense ledgers of major U.S. corporations. The Republican Party made a big political show about unanimously opposing it when it was passed in 2010, but I can guarantee you that the GOP will never, ever do anything to reverse its course. Look at all the nonsense Ted Cruz took last fall from his own fellow Republicans when he proposed minor changes and short-term delays in Obamacare THAT OBAMA HIMSELF LATER INSTITUTED EARLY THIS YEAR THROUGH HIS OWN EXECUTIVE ORDERS.
