Gavia Baker-Whitelaw lamented how the movie depictions of Spider-Man and other superheroes are all "straight, white men" in a Tuesday item on Salon.com titled "America deserves better superheroes: Why a straight, white Spider-Man is no longer a real underdog." Baker-Whitelaw, a "fandom and Internet culture" reporter for the website The Daily Dot, zeroed in on the supposed "ramifications of having eternal underdog Peter Parker remain a straight, white man."
The writer also complimented Andrew Garfield, the actor who plays the title character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for wondering why the superhero "can't...be into boys," and contended that Sony, the studio releasing the upcoming movie, "might benefit from listening to...Garfield's comments on the potential hypocrisy of portraying Peter Parker as being marginalized by society." She later hoped that superhero movies would catch up with the "reasonably progressive and diverse representation of real-life America" in present-day comic books:
...Marvel movies are often praised for being more progressive than your average summer blockbuster...but they're still decades behind the comics....none of those movies have starred anyone other than a straight, white man in the lead role. The Avengers franchise has managed a handful of female characters in non-romantic roles, plus Falcon and Nick Fury in the supporting cast, but the mere concept of an openly LGBT character still feels like a pie-in-the-sky dream. Meanwhile in Marvel comics, Northstar came out in 1992, opening the floodgates for a whole host of other LGBT heroes....

98.5% of EVERYONE is strait and around 2/3 of the population is white. If ‘Hispanics’ are included as white, which most are, than the percentage of ‘white’ Americans is actually around 85%+.
Then let these losers create their own comics and movies in their own fashion and see how well they do considering the bottom line.
The government has no business forcing beliefs upon citizens no matter how much these degenerate wish it so. If it comes to that, civil war will follow shortly thereafter, IMO.

I guess they are unaware that the actors that portrayed TV’s Batman and The Flash were both queers.
Given the nature of Hollywood, it really is rather strange that we don’t have more superheroes who are homosexual pedophiles who snort cocaine.

Oh wait, now I remember: Green Lantern came out of the closet (And gee, what a surprise with his swishy green felt Robin Hood costume) a whole year *after* the horrifyingly awful movie of the same name completely tanked and lost money with both hands.

Everybody knows that all superheroes are queers. Just as the girlymen down at the Salon.
Second GL (Hal Jordan, from the movie) is still very much straight. It’s the first GL (Alan Scott, who didn’t originally have a green costume) that they turned gay.
Funny enough, it was the supervillians that they started to make “that way inclined”. Mystique (X-Men villain) was one of the first ones they did that with; her and Destiny, apparently.
I won’t even start with what anime did even way back in the day.
As a kid, it didn’t into the whole comic book superhero fandom. My superheroes wore flight suits.

Well, if you think it has merit, make a movie where the superhero is a gay black guy. If people want to, they'll go see it. Or is it that you know they won't, so you're turning to the standard liberal solution and taking away all the alternatives, so they HAVE to do it your way.
Same here. I bought every book about test pilots that was available in “The Weekly Reader.” LOL! Dang that was a long time ago.
