There ought to be a law prohibiting Massachusetts politicians from writing books that few people actually read, especially when they write them on company time.
Nevertheless, the politicians still make money on these quickie books, thanks to outrageous advances from publishers.
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, now being feted by crazed liberals as the possible next president of the United States, is only the latest example of a politician seeking to cash in on her newfound fame.
Gov. Deval Patrick did it, getting a $1.3 million advance for his book. Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown followed suit with a book of his own. He got an advance of $700,000

There is a lot of that going around.
That’s what I thought about Obama. I hoped he’d defeat Hillary because I couldn’t fathom this country electing someone with the name Barack Hussein Obama.
I can’t leave. The Bocce League at the Italian Club starts Monday.
Fair point...BUT...anybody who won the Demo primary in 2008 was going to win the general...A ham sandwhich would have beaten McCain...the economy was melting down, the Iraq war had wall to wall negative coverage...every ill in America was being blamed on Bush, republicans and capitalism...The media had an 8 year incessant drum beat of negativity against conservatives and republicans (Bush not conservative enough for me...please don’t misunderstand) that was interrupted for about a year due to 9-11....
2016 will be an uphill battle for sure, but it won’t be like 2008...
Disclaimer: no one should ever hire me as a campaign consultant, except perhaps to hire me, listen to my advice, and then do the exact opposite and win :-)
Having said that...
My guess is that Hillary, at this moment, is doing whatever it takes to get past Benghazi, and to not be politically injured by the 2014 midterms.
Sometime around January 2015, she will implement one of plans A, B, or C, depending on the situation.
Plan A: if Benghazi isn't a major scandal by 2015, and if the Dems lose the Senate, she announces her candidacy. Her primary campaign will position her as the fixer of all Obama mistakes, and the savior of the Democratic Party. She will position anyone who might oppose her in the primaries as tools of the failed Obama: Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Michelle Obama, depending on who would want to try. She waltzes to the nomination, and designs her general election depending upon who becomes the GOP nominee.
Plan B: if Benghazi isn't a major scandal by 2015, and the Dems keep the Senate, she announces her candidacy. Her primary campaign will position her as the next step Forward!, as the one person who can truly accomplish everything Obama began, but couldn't finish because of the evil vast right-wing conspiracy. She will position anyone who might oppose her in the primaries as incapable of fulfilling the Obama legacy: Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Michelle Obama, depending on who would want to try. She waltzes to the nomination, and designs her general election depending upon who becomes the GOP nominee.
Plan C: if Benghazi becomes a major scandal in 2014, with the Dems losing the Senate, she announces, sometime before the end of January 2015, that she has gratefully and humbly accepted the appointment to [insert "Yale President," "Head of UN Human Rights Council," etc.], and that because of this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many people, along with her new role as a grandmother, she will not be running for the Democratic Party nomination for President in 2016. She never openly endorses any of the running candidates for the nomination, though she makes a number of references as to how a woman in the White House would complete the transformation of America into a true diversity society. As a result, Elizabeth Warren gets the nomination, and loses to [insert GOP nominee here]. History books write about how sad it was that Hillary Rodham Clinton was never able to reach her full potential in life.
I vote plan C!
