But the questions are: does the punishment for Sterling fit the "crime"? And is the NBA a bunch of hypocrites for ignoring similar transgression by other people associated with the league but who don't look like Sterling? And if anybody can have their business taken away because of something they said deemed injurious by certain people, who will be safe?
Is Sterling a bigot? He may very well be, but even his current gold digging girl friend is half black. And nowhere in the recoreded conversation used against him did he use racial slurs. He even said, when asked by his gf, that he likes black people.
Now, he might have been lying about liking black people, but so what? How many black people in the NBA do you think have said racist or objectionable things about white people? Do you think they'll be punished? Spike Lee anybody?
So because you don’t like him any injustice done to him is ok with you.
Please do not sit on my jury, or anyone else’s for that matter.
I never said any of that. However, look at the facts of the case which is what I would do on a jury. He represents the team...Yes. He spoke words that were immature at best....yes. He has had many cases that he settled out of court....yes. On the flip side. He was speaking his opinion...yes. He was speaking in private....yes. He was not aware that it was taped...probably. It seems 50-50 to me. It would be hard to sit on the jury quite frankly because both positive and negatives are pretty even. In this case, for him to lose the team. 75 percent (which is incredible high to me and very fair) of the current owners have to vote to have him sell the team.
