In his first broadcast TV interview, Republican Bob Guzzardi, who is challenging Gov. Tom Corbett in the May 20 Republican primary, is very blunt.
"Remember what happened in 2010....Tom Corbett made a promise. He broke that promise, and, Jon, this is amazing. In his campaign, he lies about it. He says, 'I didn't raise taxes. Promises made, promises kept.' Those promises weren't kept, and every Republican primary voter knows that."
Guzzardi, a conservative limited government businessman from suburban Philadelphia, says Corbett broke his promise when he raised the gasoline tax and Marcellus Shale impact fee.
"Tom Corbett, the alleged Republican, taxes Marcellus Shale, targets a specific industry, and then raises taxes on the motorist and trucking industry," Guzzardi said.
Did Corbett break his word, as Guzzardi claims?
Four years ago, KDKA-TV asked candidate Corbett about a no-tax pledge he has just signed.
Delano: Can you please be precise as to what you mean?
Corbett: Well, the pledge as it's written, and I don't have it written here, is no tax increases during the course of the next term. That's exactly what it says. That's what we are going to aim for. No tax increases, whatsoever.".....
Guzzardi says it's not debatable what Corbett did, and voters know it.
"That's not an accusation. It's a statement of fact," says Corbett's GOP challenger.
And he says while he will shrink state government, Corbett did the opposite.
"In the last three years, borrowing in Pennsylvania has increased by $3.4 billion. He's expanding government. He's making government bigger," Guzzardi said......

Fees like those for car title transfers were also increased dramatically.
Now Governor Tom Corbett expects us all to march in lockstep and vote for him to save us from the tax and spend liberals.
The tax and spend liberal I need delivered from is Republican Governor Tom Corbett.
Conservative Bob Guzzardi is giving PA Republican Primary voters a choice on May 20th and I plan to take advantage of it.
Corbett stands zero chance of being re-elected. He blew that on 11-9-11.
If conservatives want their candidates to win, they have to do more than just pay lip service. Candidates have to hit the campaign trail, get their names and their ideas all over the media. They have to bombard the airwaves relentlessly.
People will vote only for the candidate whose name they know. If they don't know Mr. Guzzardi, they won't vote for him.
Corbett is TOAST!
This gas tax is going to be one of his many downfalls.
Every time we get a republican governor they always seem to fail one way or the other.
Guzzardi only raised four thousand dollars in the first quarter, saying he wants to use the news media and small gatherings to spread his message.
In 1990 the Pro-Life unknown candidate Peg Luksik, who had no media of her own, got 46 percent of the vote in the Republican Primary for governor against the party’s endorsed Pro-Abortion candidate Barbara Hafer, who went on to be trounced by Bob Casey Sr. in the general election 2-1.
I’m definitely voting for Guzzardi. Corbett, Saylor, Platts (in my district) and their ilk have never fooled me; each one has voted to grow government whenever the opportunity presents itself while waving the flag for our troops to appear conservative. Platts is gone already, and I think Saylor will be displaced by Henneshaw, because Saylor is telling the same lies as Corbett.
I’m glad we have a choice that we can support for governor-Bob Guzzardi.
Every Republican governor we’ve ever had, at least as far back as I can remember, has been a tax and spend liberal. They are proof that Republican and conservative are not synonymous.
The problem isn’t just Corbett, it’s also the RINO legislature. Nearly all that money is going to mass transit democrat union jobs in Filthadelphia. The Republicans in this state have slit their own throats.
Me too! This is the first time in my lifetime I have had candidates for governor, state representative, and state senator that share my views. To top it off, they all seem to have a fair shot at winning!
People here in York County can vote for real conservative candidates in four State House districts.
“Tax and spenWolfpx and spend. Class warfare! Class warfare! Soak the frackers! Soak the frackers! FULLY FUND our public schools! Tax and spend. Tax and spend.... ”

Unfortunately, PA has enough low information voters who will swallow this nonsense and vote for one of the Dems, probably Tom Wolf.
The PA Supreme Court has stuck its nose in at a late hour taking “Bob Guzzardi” off the ballot but just like “Scott Wagner” you can write-in the name on May 20th....
Write-In “Bob Guzzardi” for governor in the Republican primary.
