This is an advance notification for one out-of-band security bulletin that Microsoft is intending to release on May 1, 2014. The bulletin addresses the security vulnerability in Internet Explorer described in Microsoft Security Advisory 2963983.

This attack on IE must be pretty serious if Microsoft is releasing a special update.

Either disable your Flash plug-in, or switch to another browser. MS reports disabling Flash is enough to defeat the attach.

Just update your IE later on today. You might also want to use a different browser.

This advisory from Microsoft on April 26 talked about increasing the security level in IE:

I’m not sure if this is related to the Adobe Flash problem mentioned earlier in the week. Adobe has already had an update since then.

I have one website I have to use for business purposes which is only accessible through IE. Have talked with their EDI staff at that website and they are waiting on Microsoft. In the meantime, have warned clients about problems with the website and what it will mean to their cash flow until the website comes up with an alternative to IE.

I have pretty much given up on IE as a lot of the websites I use have compatibility issues with the latest release.

The company I work at is using as the default browser IE8 due to company websites and client sites not able to display the page correctly in later versions. IE9 & IE10 work most of the time but we need to use compatibility mode sometimes. IE11 has issues with too many company sites at this time. We use Chrome & Firefox when needed. Firefox 29 did not work at one site where as Firefox 24 did. It is chaos out on the internets.

Company sent out an e-mail about the importance of the update. Then they filtered it out of the available updates.

There’s your problem right there! The most used browser is also the one that is the least secure.

(Chrome, Safari, FireFox, IE, Opera in that order in 2011. Firefox has taken over the most exploited in 2014.)

No; no more Firefox, not after what they did to Brandon Eich. Go with Palemoon instead. It’s a Mozilla-type browser but no with connections with them. The browser comes in 32 and 64 bit versions.
