Rich Lowry: Obama's Presidency at a 'Dead Point'

President Barack Obama, whose popularity is continuing to drop on both his domestic and foreign programs, is at what late President Abraham Lincoln referred to as being at a "dead point," says National Review Editor Rich Lowry.

The president, Lowry wrote in an opinion piece for Politico Magazine Wednesday, is "weak abroad, frustrated at home, and looking at a brutal November" as his ratings continue to slip.

There was a bit of hope at the end of March, said Lowry, when a Washington Post-ABC poll showed 49 percent of Americans support Obamacare.

But just a month later, the Obamacare ratings started to plummet again, according to an Post-ABC poll that revealed 44 percent supported the law, putting its ratings where they were in January.

The numbers are consistent with a Wall Street Journal-NBC poll that showed 36 percent of respondents thinking Obamacare is a good idea, and a Kaiser poll showing support for the law at 38 percent.

"The more Obamacare’s standing with the public changes, the more it stays the same," wrote Lowry. "The president keeps saying the debate over the health care law is over. If so, he lost it — at least the debate over whether the law is worthy of support."

Wasn’t Nixon’s Presidency at a similar “dead point” in 1974?

And Nixon was a reasonably capable person, by most measures.

The Current Occupant is most miserably incompetent. In economics, in diplomacy, in projection of power, and even on a personal level.

“Not down for the struggle.”

All the stagecraft in the world is not going to preserve this legacy. At least, not in a positive light.

Three more years is a long time, and those who have nothing to lose tend to be dangerous and upredictable.

I seriously believe that Obama looks forward to “certified lame duckery”. This means more or less of the following for this loser:

1. More golf
2. Less time spent “just for appearances” with the Moose.
3. More time on Air Force One.
4. More “sneaking out” to be with Reggie or who-ever.
5. More time spent on World Travel on our dime.
6. More time with his free lawyer planning his divorce.

Please feel free to add your “mores” or your “lesses”.

But like LBJ, he has done a lot of damage before he reached the dead point.

And he's got 2 1/2 years to go. Hopefully he won't get to replace any conservative Supreme Court justices.

7. More inclined to not hide his continued smoking.

“The president also lacks ability to win any significant legislative victories, said Lowry, and instead of looking to international affairs like other presidents have done, “Obama has been gradually liquidating our position abroad, while his domestic agenda is permanently stalled.””

This probably the best possible outcome for America at this point. We need to just survive until January 20th 2017.

Your judgement on the current occupant is correct. The interesting feature being the mass denial on the part of the electorate in 2008. One glance would have told any person minimally perceptive person living at the time of the first election that a disaster was in the making. Incompetent bungling is his nature his very essence his total being./p>

Jan 2017 is still a long way off.

With this corrupt fool as CinC America hangs by a thread each and every day until then.

" At least, not in a positive light"

Anyone who challenges the BS History that WILL be in the History books will be made into the next Donald Sterling.

Academia and MSM will continue the cult of personality far beyond our living days.
