That's an interesting argument, since Alexander Hamilton originally argued (vociferously) against the Bill of Rights along the same line, viz., that it would add nothing really, except talking points and avenues of attack opened up by commas and subordinate clauses (as was done in Miller vs. U.S. [1939]).
The problem's a practical one. Would you rather do without the BoR and trust Hamilton, or have the black-letter law of 2A on your side to pound relentlessly until the ink begins to rub off on the other side's forehead?
