No state income tax. Utilities are pretty reasonable, at least where I live. As I'm sure you know, it gets hot here and winters can be colder than some realize, yet my power bill averages about $120 mo. Water, sewer and trash are part of my rent. The property taxes are because of some sort of sharing arrangement between each and every school district or some such. I've never seen an old, dilapidated run-down school here.

I moved from Texas to California in 1976 when I was 17 so I know how hot it can get but the homes we lived in always seemed to have air conditioning.

I hate living in California everything is so expensive and the housing is outrageous.

My husband was laid off in November and if he does not find a job in the next month or so we will have to move because we will no longer be able to afford to live here.
