#1 – Tony Orlando & Dawn: “Tie a Yellow Ribbon ‘Round the Old Oak Tree”

Orlando was a recording executive who had one small hit as a vocalist in 1961, and returned to singing in 1970. This was classified as “ragtime rock”, and it was the group’s signature song. It wasn’t until the band got their own variety show on TV that the girls discovered that Orlando had been grossly underpaying them. They fixed that problem in a hurry.

Nite! Great Rockumentary! The Tony Orlando has become a classic returning troops and those who have been missing from their families. So...he did a good thing with this recording. :)
