The only reason Russia is willing to “expend resources” is for their pipelines and access to the coast.

I get that...but they aren’t the “good guys” in all of this.

When will Putin bring law, order, and prosperity to Russia? He’s brought a lot of prosperity to himself and his cronies; he is, after all, one of the richest men in the world.
