Britain has one of the highest death rates for infants and young children in western Europe, researchers revealed last night.

Last year, 3,800 under-fives died in the UK—more than anywhere else in the region.

The UK’s mortality rate of 4.9 deaths per 1,000 children aged under five is more than double the figure for Iceland, the country with the lowest rate.

The appalling record is partly due to the prevalence of drinking and smoking during pregnancy, as well as high levels of inequality, experts said. …

UK has top child mortality rate in west of Europe with nearly 4,000 under-fives dying last year alone—twice as many as Iceland
Comparison with Iceland is due to that country having the lowest infant mortality rate in wester Europe. (And of course, the libs have to exploit the data to push their Marx-inspired “inequality” agenda.)

Left out of this story in the fact that England has large minorities of third-world origin. What is the effect of this on their he health statistics? They are prohibited by political correctness from even tailing about it.

The British medical system in creaky, and not up to modern standards. Over 80 years of (mainly) socialized medicine has done this.

It is the same when comparing from rates in the US and Canada.

Prolly related to higher immigration. Observe the mortality rates of Western European Countries that have a low non-Caucasian population.

Is it about genetics or economics, or a combination?

Another question: Does socialized health care have an impact on newborn mortality?

Too bad they can’t list the “British” baby mortality in the UK, and the “American” baby mortality here.

Betcha there’s a BIG difference.

According this, the US has a slightly higher rate.

Mortality rate, under-5 (per 1,000 live births)

Terrible health system + immigrants from “South Asia” = kids dying by the thousands.

Problem with socialist Brit hospitals — the doctors and nurses are low paid bureaucrats, the rooms are filthy, and surgery recovery rates are poor compared to United States.

Nevertheless, poor people both here and abroad don’t take good care of pregnant moms and young babies — that leads to high child mortality rates. Ironically, America’s child mortality rate is also driven up because we try harder to save preemies with our first-class technology. Other countries don’t count short-lived preemies as having been alive in the first place.

Cross-reference the deaths by given name and see if there is a common thread.

Well I’m not sure what is causing this, but I’m pretty sure it’s none of the reasons stated.

It might have something to do with the crappy care people get from the NHS, but like I say I’m not sure.

I guess the TRUTH would be too hard for their readers to take.

The bottom line is that, given their socialist medical system there, they simply CANNOT AFFORD to care for less-than-perfect babies, so they make up excuses and let them die...just as they now do for old people that get sick.

To put it another way, there are a LOT MORE VOTES in supporting childhood immunizations than there is in helping one old person with a serious illness.

How many death of British (Anglo Saxons) infants without the third world people there? I bet it would be less.

but ... but ... I saw the Olympics opening ceremony and was made aware of the Brits’ love affair for their National Health Service ... that can’t keep their infants alive?
