A man that police say was shot by officers after pointing a gun at them Friday night is now under arrest.
Teddy Spann, 24, of Staten Island is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing a police officer.
The incident happened Friday night in Brooklyn.
Police say a loaded .380 caliber firearm, seen above, was recovered at the scene.
Investigators say three plainclothes officers in an unmarked car noticed a 24-year-old man tugging at his waistband at around 9:40 p.m. Friday near Malcolm X Boulevard and Monroe Street.
Two of the officers approached the man and say he ran off, according to investigators.
Investigators say officers chased the man into a schoolyard, where they say he grabbed a gun from his ankle and pointed it at them.
One of the officers opened fire, grazing the gunman in the stomach, according to police.
He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition

Is his dog okay?
Pretty much 50-50, from what we are given.
Did the officers shout that they were police? Did they flash their badges? Was this a crook with an illegal gun, or just some poor sucker with a gun that once was legal before all the laws were changed?
No way to tell without more info.
Wait if he was suspicious for tugging at his waistband, but then later grabbed the gun from his ankle? Maybe the guy was tugging because he normally “dresses” left but had shifted right. Probably ran because he knew the cops would probably shoot him. I wonder how long it took the cops to “find” that little .380 auto after the shooting.
'drop gun' is part of the language for a reason. As is 'testilying' and 'white perjury', not to mention 'snowflaking'.
Cops have been dirty for so long that the tricks they pull have entered the lexicon.

Yes, true. I thought of that after reading post 5, which was posted while I was composing mine.
And sadly, his bespoke suit (slim fit) was damaged!
Probably two seconds after they planted it.

That is the issue. Did he realistically believe he was under criminal threat? Remember the two college girls the ABC officers attacked.
The point to plain clothed or undercover cops is that you aren’t easily recognized as either. And just saying police is not enough. Anyone can do that.

So, we are not free to hike up our pants?
