Whenever you hear our dear politicians in Washington DC say theres nothing more to cut or that theyre just like us, let me give you a friendly reminder. As Breitbart reported after his jail sentencing, convicted ex-congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) receives $8,700 per month in government disability pay, as well as a partial federal pension of $45,000.
That generous $8,700 in disability comes thanks to Jacksons sudden development of a mood disorder as the federal government began looking to indict him. Jackson, who was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, had no history of mental illness during his prior 17 years in Congress.
And I wouldnt be surprised if Jackson Jr. eventually gets a pardon from his Chicago buddy, Barack Hussein Obama.
I firmly believe the Congressional pension program needs to be reformed, right along with instituting term limits for Members of the US House and Senate.

Shouldn’t he be made to pay back the money he stole? If he’s making money, then most of it should be taken as restitution, leaving him with a couple of hundred in spending money each month.;o)

It's the federal disability that congress critters have as part of their benefits package. He went on it right before going into the slammer. So, if it's long term disability, he's probably eligible to get it for the rest of his life. The amount is based on a percentage of what his salary was. Given congressional salaries are $174K, $8,700 per month equates to 60% of his base salary, which is probably pretty common for long term disability.
And yes, we pay for it, but no, it's not SSDI.

I've been suffering from a "mood disorder" since I came home from 'Nam in 1969. After 40 years, I finally started receiving VA disability for PTSD and Agent Orange induced prostate cancer.
Suffice it to say, it's nowhere close to $8.7 K per month.
Wonder why he has a "mood disorder" - is it because he was caught with his hand in the cookie-jar?

So I worked my butt off in the O.R. for over 30 years doing surgery and end up paying this fool $7500 more per month than I get after taxes!
At the 60% ratio I should be raking in $6240.00 per month.
I want some answers and I want them now, Congress!!!!!!
