And they were both Muslims.

The co-pilot’s cellphone was searching for service which means that it could have been turned on when the plane was diverted a half hour earlier before he died and then connected with the tower on Penang as they flew by.

The real question is why they would be flying so low that cellphones onboard would connect with a cell tower — unless the pilot did it deliberately so that he could make a call.

The senior pilot was the one signing off and thus most likely the one at the controls when diverted. The co-pilot was on his rookie flight and thus probably overwhelmed by it all and taken advantage of by the old-timer.

Early on the IGP said that this was more than likely someone on the plane seeking insurance/settlement payoffs and that makes more sense than Muslims killing Muslims with a Muslim plane in a Muslim country.

who was deeply upset by a political trial on the day of the flight.

Yep somehow it seems that for this to happen immediately after the verdict means that somehow it is intertwined with it -- not the only reason -- but the precipitating one.

The pilot’s political party was about as close as you could get to a secularist one, so I don’t see why he’d want to work with AQ to commit an act of terror.

Also - while the story seems to change from day to day - initially there was comment over the fact that it was the co-pilot’s voice that was recorded as giving the sign off or the last recorded words. Not a lot was known about the relatively new co-pilot, whereas the pilot had been flying for years, seemed to have been well-known and liked, etc.

Personally, I think the co-pilot probably overwhelmed the older pilot and forced him to fly someplace, then killing him once they got where they were going. Or maybe they crashed and were all killed before they could reach the intended destination.

It is certainly odd the way the Malaysian government keeps changing their stories, though. I think they probably knew what was going on and were trying to figure out what to do during the five hours between the notification from Vietnam that the flight had never entered their airspace and the time when they acknowledged that there was a problem. But who knows?

It’s an intriguing mystery and almost almost seems unreal, which I guess is why we’re so fascinated by it.

You have to consider the possibility the Malay govt may have taken a page from the Clinton/Obama playbook and staged a terrorist hijacking to blame it on the political opposition.

Think about the failed fertilizer car bomb in NYC in 2010 they tried to blame on the TEA Party so they would be labeled terrorist.

What better way to get the political opposition out of their hair than to have them labeled terrorist?

Pilot found out about it and tried to land the plane somewhere else.

The plane may have been shot down by the Malay govt to keep anyone from finding out the Malay govt planned the hijacking.

like our Democrat Party???

so I don’t see why he’d want to work with AQ to commit an act of terror.

Like our Democrat Party's handling of Benghazzi??????

But to be fair no one says that this hijacking was AQ. It's an over-reach. It probably has more to do with Anwar Ibrahim's reconviction that night -- though to allege so is political dynamite in that country.

The audio is now public and those who know say that the signoff appears to be the senior pilot Shah.

The co-pilot was on his rookie flight and thus probably not familiar with parts of that plane and what it was capable of -- like dismantling ACARS and transponders, making U-Turns at just the precise moment between ATCs, taking the plane up to 43,000ft for 20 minutes to kill everybody onboard, then dropping to as low as 5,000ft as they cross Malaysia proper to avoid radar but be in the range of celltowers so he could use his phone, flying the plane like a fighter jet, entering the known commercial flight path to the waypoint IGREX in the Andamans to avoid suspicion, flying far enough north and west of Sumatra to avoid Indonesian radar, turning south at just the right time when it could not be seen on radar, and then doubling back flying the plane into waters where the plane could be safely ditched.

Pulling all of this off is well beyond the abilities of a rookie pilot. Even skilled pilots would have trouble with this. That's why the Malaysian call it a "deliberate" action because it was well thought out and well executed.

Two questions the Malaysians have yet to answer:

Why they didn't contact their military??? They contacted the Cambodians, the Thais, the Vietnamese -- why not their own military???

And one lone radar operator didn't say anything when he painted it flying overhead because he said that it was a "friendly". On what basis did he make that determination since usually a plane flying overhead that is unidentifiable and without communication is usually deemed an "unfriendly" flying object until it is identified.

That’s a muslim trait.

Malaysia is a beautiful country, but they wear their “muslim-ness” like some gaudy cartoonish Latin soap-opera.

Why go to all the trouble to build new landing strip when all of Pakistan was rolling out the Welcome mat?

The recently reopened international airstrip at the Shangrala Resort ( its only used by guests in season) was a concrete WWII air strip. It was my first guess on where they landed — if they landed

The only place where the 777 could be if it landed on terra firma is:

Jakarta International Airport (Soekarno-Hatta) on West Java or one of the outlier airports thereof.

The reason is simple — the Inmarsat 8:11 Arc passes right through Jakarta.

And who would think to look for it there???

8 weeks and the name “Jakarta” has not been mentioned by any one of those weighing in on this — and yet why not??

But I’m sure Malaysia has reassurances from Indonesia that it looked everywhere and it couldn’t have breached its radar on West Java and entered its landing pattern. That would be so embarrassing if it did.

You’re right. Ditto Bingo, i.e. I believe that plan is parked somewhere, like in Pakistan, waiting or being prepped for a future task. Whatever happened to that retired colonel or general, etc. who was pretty confident in the early days of this event that the plan was in Pakistan?

I think he was General McInnary (sp?). He prolly got a craw full of the Aussie ass that Hannity kept using as some (self proclaimed) expert who poo pooed everything the General said.

he has long been a very credible “consultant” to FNC and does not sugar coat anything.

The plane was put under a big hanger to keep satellites from seeing it. Was electronically refitted to match some other plane and off it went to Iran for the “package”. Whatever happened to the poor passengers, they were probably Fargo’d and put out to sea as chum.
