Poll: Most Americans View Feds as Threat to Liberty

The New American

The Founding Fathers created the U.S. government for the express purpose of securing the God-given individual rights of Americans, according to the Declaration of Independence. A poll released last month, however, confirmed yet again that a majority of voters now view the perpetually expanding Leviathan as a threat to those rights and individual liberty. More than one in three Americans even fears the federal government, the recent poll showed, confirming other surveys finding broad public agreement that Washington, D.C., has become dangerous and out of control.

The Rasmussen Reports national survey, released on April 18, also shows that trust in federal authorities is plunging fast. More than two thirds of voters, for example, said they view the federal government as a special interest group primarily concerned with protecting its own interests. Only 17 percent did not. Majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and independents all agreed.

Meanwhile, less than one in five Americans surveyed trusts the Washington-based political and bureaucratic classes to do the right thing most of the time — down from 24 percent less than a year ago. On the other hand, 80 percent disagree, and 36 percent of voters surveyed say the federal government rarely or never does the right thing.

He responded how evil fossil fuels are and then I really exploded.

Like the evil fossil fuels that generate the power to run the factory in China that manufactures the solar panels he is pedaling?

And the evil fossil fuels that power the boat and train and truck used to deliver the solar panels to his place of work?

And the evil fossil fuels that power the transportation he rides to get back and forth to work everyday?

(That last one might take some explaining because many over-educated True Believers don't understand that most of America's electricity is generated by fossil fuels. They think if they use an electric car they have cut their dependence on fossil fuels.)

More proof that our elections aren’t real.

Revolts aren't won by votes.

9-11 was supposedly carried out by 19 Arabs. It occurred because of failure of our government to adequately enforce laws against illegal immigrants borders and visas. No one in government was held responsible or accountable.

Only American citizens, that had no involvement in 9-11 have faced a relentless escalating multi year dragnet diminishing our freedoms and privacy.. Many younger people have lost the concept of that most precious commodity- privacy. If there is any surveillance to be done it first needs to be directed towards corrupt politicians.

The federal gubmint wasn’t offensive before?

The “magic negro” is not the problem, he is a symptom. Wouldn’t matter what color he is either.

Maybe we don’t — have you never thought that corruption might be so endemic that your vote literally doesn’t matter?

Quite right — we'd still have all the problems we currently have if Mitt Magic Underwear Romney would've won.
(There's absolutely no reason to think that the opposition party would hold his feet to the fire when they can't be bothered to do that for the other team's guy.)

An unfortunate side effect of freedom is that one is free to enslave one’s self for whatever reason.
