Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Bishop of the Episcopal church, publicly announced he is divorcing his husband, Mark Andrew, on May 3.
The couple had been married since 2010, when New Hampshire legalized gay marriage. The union created an international uproar, and many Episcopalians broke away from the main church.
"As you can imagine, this is a difficult time for us - not a decision entered into lightly or without much counseling," Robinson wrote in a letter to the Diocese of New Hampshire. "We ask for your prayers, that the love and care for each other that has characterized our relationship for a quarter century will continue in the difficult days ahead."
The retired bishop left his wife and two children when he openly declared he was gay in 1986. He entered into a civil union with Andrew in 2008.
In 2012, the Episcopal Church voted to allow bishops to permit priests to bless same-sex marriages.
Robinson, 66, is currently a fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C.
What are we supposed to think? Sad the marriage didn’t work out? What the heck????
Well, he has his place in history, because homosexuality is now so special in our society........
This story is wrong on so many levels. I hardly know where to begin.
Something about beating a dead horse comes to mind.
Dreadful. My grandmother saw the advent of automobiles and men landing on the moon. I saw queers moving from beneath bridges and movie theater bathrooms to become Senators and Congressmen, and now even in the White Hut.
My Grandmother saw good things...
this was the so called “marriage” that caused DEEP CHASMS in....and some splitting away from ...the Episcopal Church
MAKE “GAY DIVORCE “ Illegal now!!
Somebody had enough of that crap.
So Vicky Gene is back in the news? That’s really its first name.
“Robinson, 66, is currently a fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C.”
This is progress?! There is a wonderful old movie, don’t recall the name, in which the old patriarch who is always being reminded that “it’s the 20th century” eventually responds that he doesn’t know what’s so special about the 20th century and then says he can pick a better one out of a hat.
Mmmmmm....I guess the husband was a little miffed when Gene initiated "meet and greet night" at the Center for American Progress......inviting NSA-types like little Tommy Vietor and Hillary's all-girl State Dept. (cackle)
===============================================
THE PROBLEM IS BAD CHOICES WEDDED TO POOR JUDGEMENT Robinson abandoned his wife and two children when he openly declared his gayness in 1986. He entered into a civil union with Andrew in 2008, married him in 2010, and announced plans to divorce in 2014.
In 2012, the tolerant Episcopal Church voted to allow bishops to permit priests to bless same-sex marriages.......as congregants fled.
I know some men from California....who went to a BIG MEETING in New Hampshire to protest this guys officially remaining In the church!
Volatile relationships USUALLY dont last very long...and “gay” relationships are said to BE the MIST VOLITALE.
I see a TSUNAMI of so called “gay” so called “divorces” on the horizon.
This guy’s moral bank account seems seriously in arrears.
I haven’t tracked membership numbers, but, not surprising some would leave churches which decided to bless homosexual unions.
Just consider, that the vast majority of evangelicals, or the devout of any traditional religion, oppose homosexual marriage. If their churches start introducing homosexual marriage or homosexual blessings, then a certain number of the faithful will leave, and seek churches which still hold traditional views. Makes sense that this is happening.
Vicky Gene considered himself the “wife”, apparently, since he’s divorcing the ‘husband’.
Or maybe they were both husbands. Or both wives???
Or maybe they calendared it. You get wife this week and I get wife next week.
I’m sure the conflict just wore them out.
/sarc
Married way back in 2010! Gene Robinson is a fame whore. He’ll be having another “wedding” soon.
Oh, I think we can reliably postulate that Gene was the wife. In the absence of evidence I would assume it to be so.
I agree about the “fame whore”.
Many other liberal so-called religious leaders are the same.
Wasn’t this the guy who was to do the “closing? Prayer” at recent Easter activities at the White Hut?
It was something at some White House event. Don’t remember, so your memory is probably right.
NOW there’s an OOPS of major proportions TROUBLE WISE!
the PROTESTS to legalize” “Gay” “Divorce” might require riot trained... “security”
