I think Putin has been reading his Bible and has let it go to his head.
Something loosely to the effect..., “Where ever two or more of you have come together in my name, I am there.”
Trans-whatever is leftover old business from the breakup of the Soviet Union.
They will probably end up with a status like Kalliningrad has.
AH, Doughty, if only someone could get this information to the Czar.
One thing is for sure. If Putin wants to take it, you’ll support him.

Transnistria was created and maintained by the Soviet-Russian 14h Army, and it will cease to exist when the Russian Army is removed from Transnistria. It is just a matter of time before Russia collapses again, and the next time the rest of the world is not going to be so forgiving and helpful in rebuilding Russia yet a third time. Putin’s theft has for all practical purposes ensured Russia will lose the Crimea forever. No one is going to trust the Russian people to acquire and maintain a non-corrupt, non-paranoid, and non-threatening government for a very long time to come. The next time the Crimea is freed of Russian occupation, the ethnic Russians who the non-Russian Crimeans will allow to remain in the Crimea are likely to be the very lucky exceptions to the vast majority of such people who will be discouraged from remaining there. No one is going to want any minority Russian population around their communities who may again one day attempt to forcibly take the land away from the majority non-Russian populations. The Russians are making even more bitter enemies among their neighbors than have existed before even under the Bolshevik Soviet Union.
Yes...
"Thou shalt covet thy neighbors' goods."
Ah... that explains it.
