I had an extensive correspondence with Gonz over music, specifically the Everly Bros. I still have a CD with their version of Green River on it that he generously made for me.
Goodbye, good friend. Here’s hoping you’re halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin’, just five miles away from wherever you are.
Gonzo drove way out of his way to collect Sara and I, to meet up with a group of fellow Florida Freepers, when my car wouldn't allow us to travel that far otherwise.
He let me buy him breakfast, but would not let me pay for my share of the gas.His excuse was that he hadn't drove us in the “good car”.
He was a living example of the type of polite gentleman I told my daughter still existed, and we talked a lot during the long road trip about his early life and work in Canada/Michigan, his wife and family, his love of music, and his former company and current pets.
Prayers sent to comfort his wife and family.
I didn't know him personally beforehand, but he went well out of his way to help me get to that event.
If anyone has any information on his funeral, I would appreciate a FReepmail.
