Boehner Posts Easy Victory in Ohio GOP Primary
WSJ ^ | 5-6-2014 | Reid J. Epstein

House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) coasted to a primary election victory Tuesday over tea party-aligned challenger J.D. Winteregg and two other opponents.

The Associated Press declared Mr. Boehner the primary victor with about 8,600 votes cast — about 6% of precincts reporting.

Mr. Winteregg, a high school teacher who raised less than $50,000, represented Mr. Boehner’s most robust primary challenge in years, prompting the speaker to air television ads for himself. Mr. Winteregg’s campaign was aided by $350,000 in third-party spending, but it was hardly enough to give the speaker a scare.

Democrats Tom Poetter and Matthew Guyette are competing for nomination to face Mr. Boehner in the November general election.

Well, I’ll keep flying the flag for conservatism. Maybe we can wake these people up.

I still think his opponent’s viagra satire ad was funny.

I couldn’t agree more. Same with Senate races.

There’s virtually zero chance of beating a sitting Speaker in primary. It would be nice in this case, but I would guess it’s never happened.

I do agree with you. It looks like this primary season is going to be mostly a bust. The money interests are dumping major money into primaries to protect the favored ones. We should pick up a good one in Nebraska with Sasse, who’s a really good quality candidate. We have not seen very many super high quality candidates this round, and too few who raised the funds needed. Bannon looked like a possibility in NC, but he never got into the needed groove. I was hopeful there with the open seat. Bevin is a great candidate, but is up against too much this cycle against a sitting party leader.

further evidence to fuel my paranoia about election fraud

Yup. You think the Republican Oligarchy will fight voter fraud if they are included in the game?

Pray his days as speaker are coming to an end.

Perhaps Conservatives should give this Boehner the treatment John Warner and Richard Lugar is giving the Conservatives...endorse the democrat. Its not like Boehner is advancing Conservative policies.

Proof positive that lesser evil voting is the mindset of morons. He had challengers, including a Freeper and people chose him again.

After all this crying, avoiding the oath of office, demanding amnesty and the rest, people went to a PRIMARY and reelected him.

America deserves what it gets. I am sorry that a handful of us still married to the idea of principle will suffer with the rest, but it deserves what it just did to itself.

What you said. How ANYONE could vote for the Weeper Clown, or ANY of the entrenched, career politician RINO’s, is beyond me.

Oh oh. I guess he can go ahead and pass his amnesty BS for the Mexican government now. I’ll bet the boys are partying hardy tonight in Mexico City. They just unloaded all of their poverty on America.

I was sneaky! It’s not easy to pickoff top leadership at anytime, but especially in the primary. Too many allies, money, etc. the power to bring home tax money, too. A candidate would have to really screw up with all those factors. It’s darn near impossible in the fall, and I would say we will never see it in a primary.

The results were known before the first vote was cast. The people don’t elect anyone. They’re selected by the powers that be. They love to get the people all upset and excited. That tells them the voters are still buying into their tricks. I got suckered back into it during the 2000 recount. It won’t happen again.

I fear it’s too late to stop the juggernaut that’s taken over this country and the world.
