Term described as gay slur removed from congressman's campaign site
SAN DIEGO — Rep. Scott Peters’ campaign staff issued an apology Tuesday for a post on his website that included what’s been characterized as a gay slur against Carl DeMaio, who is challenging Peters in the June 3 primary to represent San Diego’s 52nd Congressional District.
The post on the freshman Democrat’s campaign site referred to DeMaio, a gay Republican, as a “Mary.” The Online Slang Dictionary says the term refers to “a male who behaves like a stereotypical little girl when hurt.”
When campaign staffers were told the post contained a term offensive to the LGBT community, they quickly removed it Tuesday afternoon and posted a five-sentence apology in its place, campaign manager MaryAnne Pintar said.

BTW, when did "Mary" become an anti-Gay slur? I've heard of "Nancy-boy," but "Mary" is new to me.
They are homos. Before long, “Is” and “The” will be offensive if it forwards the agenda. No one pushes back so why not? In time it too shall come to pass.

The term “Mary” as gay slang goes back a long time and is quite well known in Southern California so the Peter’s campaign really has no defense on this. There is a gay friendly restaurant chain which uses Mary in its name and they use to have a restuarant in San Diego.
