"Eagles do not prey on birds."

Bald eagles absolutely do.

Is that out in the Antelope Valley? I saw one similar to that off the CA138 under construction some time back on my way out to the I5...

The wind turbines do a pretty good job of whacking birds...the speeds at the tips of the blades can get quite fast and the birds stand little chance if they “misjudge”.

Yeah, that one got me too. They are opportunistic feeders and will eat anything they can sink their talons in.

Makes me think of prop planes at an airport. Misjudge or get careless and you become a pink mist.

I am blessed to live on Puget Sound. See bald and golden eagles daily. Occasionally we see baldy fly by with a gull hanging in it’s grip. I’m sure they’d grab them more often if they could catch them. The gulls gang up on the eagles, and the smaller water birds just dive under when the eagles get close.

I never liked working around props for that very reason...

Me too, though the jets can do a number on you, too.

plus, the landing gear and size of the commercial big boys have led to horrible accidents. There was a story about a ground crew getting fought under one and being popped like a grape.

terrifying

I never worked commercial birds, mainly fighters and C-5s and C-141s(about as close as I get to commercial sized birds)...I’d rather be under a fighter engine at full burner than anywhere near a prop or dealing with LOX...

Lots of stories about guys getting sucked into intakes and other various other accidents around fighters...

This guy is probably the luckiest man alive...

Thanks for the reply. Upon further research, I stand corrected, regarding eagles preying on birds.
