Irreplaceable: A Movie Review
Politi Chicks: The Voice of the Conservative Woman ^ | 4/3/14 | elizabeth vale

The film follows Tim Sisarich, the Executive Director of Focus on the Family New Zealand, as he goes on a worldwide quest to find out what’s wrong with the family. He starts his quest at the beginning, the foundation of what family really is and what it means to society.

After finding out why family is so vital to a nation, Sisarich then decided to see why the family has become so devalued. So he looked at four issues affecting families today.

The devaluation of sex.
The devaluation of marriage.
The devaluation of parenthood.
The devaluation of children.

Each devaluation leads to the next devaluation. Devaluing sex leads to devaluing marriage, devaluing marriage leads to devaluing parenthood, and devaluing parenthood leads to devaluing children.

This review by Elizabeth Vale coincides with my own. It is a powerful, trustworthy, and important film. There were half a dozen scenes that brought me to tears, there were incisive interviews with experts and sufferers and the victorious over broken families, and there were mind-numbing statistics and analyses of what we face.

In my locale, there wasn't much turnout, and so far today I can find no major media/internet site with a review. Can FReepers share what their experience was in their areas, and in their reaction to the movie?

Saw it last night.

Started slow but finished very strong.

A message that is true and worthy of better marketing.

The panel discussion at the end was a great finish.

He then looks at the vital role fathers play in the equation of healthy families. With each statistic he provides, it becomes more and more clear how detrimental it is to the family structure to have the father missing; 71% of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes, 71% of teen pregnancies, 85% of children with behavioral disorders, 90% of homeless and runaway children, 63% of youth suicides, and 85% of youth in prison…..all from fatherless homes. Yet the left and especially feminists leftists will tell you that fathers are not necessary. To see the truth about how bad it is among fatherless homes, one needs only to visit the local housing project where crime and drugs and out of wedlock births are the norm.

This what is happening in America today. The married, self-supporting two-parent families are becoming a smaller percentage of the total.

That’s one of the problems with younger men. They don’t believe that they *should* be necessary.

My daughter was raised traditionally and homeschooled. She married the son of a working mom. My daughter told him that she wanted a traditional household once they had children, he agreed, and they married.

Well, the baby came and he flatly refused to get anything more than a low-paying job. For two years, he turned down opportunity after opportunity and refused to become a provider.

Recently, he left her.

He and I just had a blow up on the phone where he raised his voice to me and told me that he didn’t think it was fair that he be expected to carry the entire financial burden for the family.

I asked him this: If she’s the primary caretaker of the children, the primary person doing the cooking and cleaning, AND the primary breadwinner; what the hell does she need him for? What does he contribute? Because of the example set by his mother, he thinks that women are supposed to do it all and men can bring in some change here and there. (I also reminded him that he *agreed* to this before they said their vows.)

This young man cannot see that he has anything to contribute and flatly refuses to contribute when it’s necessary to do so.

Too many years of indoctrination have done their damage.

Sounds like a sorry excuse for a man.

Yup. But he was raised that the woman do it all. So he doesn’t believe that men have to do anything extra. Now my daughter’s ‘unfair’ and a ‘nag’ and he’s ‘unhappy in our marriage because she’s putting too much pressure on me.’

So he walks away.

Teaching a generation of men that they’re unnecessary and that what they contribute isn’t important has done at least as much to damage the core of the family as preaching to women that they don’t need a man.

...not to shock you or anything, but there have always been men that have abdicated their familial responsibilities, ever since men and women determined to establish the family structure for the benefit of the race...are you seriously suggesting that men like the individual you portrayed is a result of some recent trend...

...I hope you’re not attempting to slander ‘young men’ with such a commentary...

...additionally, one can also peruse the spate of stupid and childish men portrayed on television commercials, and get a prime understanding of contemporary viewpoints from our leading lights in Hollywood...

Sounds like she is better off without him. Now she needs to find a real man.
