The family of an armed robber is speaking out after surveillance video was released of their family member committing an armed robbery.
On the video Dante Williams is clearly seen entering a South Carolina Waffle House, pointing a gun at employees and customers and attempting to rob the restaurant.
Justin Harrison was eating at the bar. Harrison, a concealed carry permit holder, was armed. He waited for an opportunity, shot Williams, and attempted to detain the second suspect.
The family of Williams says that Harrison didnt need to shoot and shouldnt have felt threatened. They want to change South Carolinas carry permit laws to require more training in order to get a permit. Many gun rights activists consider time consuming and costly training requirements to be a burden on their Second Amendment rights.
According to Fox Carolina
He was always sharp, always goofy, loved to dance, he was a respectable boy, McSwain said.
McSwain said her family was disappointed that Harrison wasnt charged in the shooting and says her family is still considering pursuing other legal action against him.
The second suspect was eventually caught and is now in prison, serving out a 30 year sentence.
We already documented this incident back when it originally happened, so we wont add this post to the defensive gun use database.
Be g shot dead is the ultimate penalty for your violence and intimidation by threat of force!
McSwain is a fool.
pointing a gun at victims is enough in any court.
Next time the parent should raise their thugs not to use guns during their crime sprees.
Another of Obama’s sons...?
Family, Dante is dead because he was stupid and a criminal. Find a way to deal with that, don’t blame the man who defended himself and others lawfully and properly.
he was a respectable boy,
You people kill me...
Your “respectable boy” had a gun and was threatening people in order to take what wasn’t his to have.
What’s so respectable about that?
You people are despicable if you think he didn’t deserve to get what he got.
Gee, I can't imagine why anyone would feel threatened by a thug storming into a restaurant and pointing his gun at everyone while attempting to rob the place. /idiot thug relative mindset
Thug walks into public place waving a gun and demanding other people’s money.
Honest citizen shoots said thug dead.
No other people hurt.
Mother of dead thug blames honest citizen for here thug kid’s death.
I do not even need to look at his picture.
He killed the armed robber. I think he's perfectly trained in self defense.
I cannot imagine what kind of training is the point here. Maybe dropping your
legally owned weapon that's not involved in a felony, when a robber appears?
There it is - if someone points a gun at you and tells you he is robbing you, you must not feel threatened .... (!)
Has anybody seen my old friend Martin...can you tell me where he’s gone
Would a greater training requirement kept Dante from getting his gun?
Shouldn’t have felt threatened? Dear God, the man was threatening everyone in there, that’s the definition of an armed robbery.
We can see obviously that this apple didn’t fall far from the tree. That entire family is full of scum.
Even in Minnesota, this would have been a good shoot.
The family of Williams should apologize for making Harrison use is ammunition and then this sorry mess of a family should leave the country in utter shame.
And of course the obligatory cap and gown photo in the video.
People who point a gun at you are threatening your life. That is sort of the point behind the act. Isn't it?
Wait, let me get this straight. They want more restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. Do they want stiffer penalties for criminal gun possession or use? Maybe that would have deterred young Dante. Or, are they just seeking publicity for themselves, a possible later payout, and sympathizing with neighborhood criminals like their son?
Oh, yeah! I always feel safe and comfortable when someone is pointing a gun at me!
That's what he cops always say about seeing dog teeth (and various objects pulled from a pocket).
Way to go, mom.
"he was a respectable boy"
He even had a regular job - burglarizing and robbing other people.
I wonder if his mama packed him a lunch or if he was just going to steal something when he got hungry.
One wonders if Dante Williams was a permit-holder and what sort of training he underwent prior to entering the restaurant and brandished the firearm he carried...
Yes, an Obama-son.
I am most upset that his aspirations of being a rapper were cut short.
‘Another one of obamas relatives ‘cashin’ in on the traavon martin lie?
Yep. and democrats would hold a candlelight vigil for the perp and call for more gun control.
Oh, yes, another son of Obama.
The homeowner is guilty of creating a hostile work environment!
Goes without saying...
“I am most upset that his aspirations of being a rapper were cut short.”
Now, come on! You can not post things like that when I’m drinking a soda over my keyboard!
Some people are simply too stupid for words. ;-)
F’n World has gone mad. Someone should shoot the perp’s family for being so stupid.
Is this satire? It reads like it.
Can these people not hear themselves? He shouldn’t have felt threatened?

How much more training does the guy need? I mean he got his man and without hitting any bystanders! That is better then most cops.
another one who could have been Obama’s son bites the dust !
A very important lesson we should all take from this case is the *huge* advantage concealed carry has over armed criminals.
The criminal(s) was brandishing his gun, and likely ready to shoot, though his intention was to rob. However, he could not keep an eye on all the staff and all the customers at once. His attention was all over the place.
The concealed carry holder had focus. When the time is right, draw your weapon and put bullets in the criminal(s).
It really didn’t matter what anyone else in the place was doing. That focus is incredibly important.
It’s not really a fair fight. But then again, it shouldn’t be.
One less worm. It will never threaten anyone else again.
Stricter gun laws? OK, I’ve got one. “Anyone using a gun to rob a waffle house or any other business, private residence or individual(s) shall be immediately shot in the head, no fewer than two times, with a handgun with a caliber no less than 9mm, a centerfire rifle with a caliber of 7.62 mm or more, or a shotgun of no less than 20 GA.”
Watch the video. Not to be believed.
From the family's comments it is not hard to see why Williams went wrong. Shame on the parents.
Sorry parents, your children do not have a right to behave like thugs and not pay the consequences. You would be well advised to raise your children to not behave like thugs if you don't want to see them end up like the William's son and Trayvon Martin.
Harrison has shown he has had sufficient training. Good job Harrison.
Excellent point. The guy did pretty good, putting all rounds on target but I think he gets demerits because he didn’t cap the other perp. All in all not a bad performance though.
The incrementalists want to develop grounds to sue and get some of that compensation stuff, for loss of future filthy lucre, etc.
