And using it would cost the trillion or so dollars the Chinese have invested in the US.

Wonder how much technology was given to them by the Clinton administration?cj

"DF-21D Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile"
It's one thing to hit a stationary test target sitting the middle of a desert. Quite another to hit one maneuvering at 35+ knots.

“Anti-Satellite Weaponry”
Capital assets orbiting earth will be targeted in the next world conflict. Both sides have this capability. The winner of the space battle will be the champion.

True, but in wartime how will they get the targeting info for this weapon? The Chinese will need to have some pretty good intel to even point the thing in the general direction of a carrier, even if it has some kind of BOL targeting system, which I'm not sure it actually does have.

maneuvering a Mach 10 reentry vehicle (RV) is nearly impossible give the reaction time differential of a carrier. i.e. For the RV to hit a maneuvering target, it has to be able to respond and change course faster than the target. That's not possible; the physics of the energy management required doesn't allow it.
The carrier wins the maneuverability race.
In order to hit a carrier it would then have to be a huge conventional blast: on the order of 30,000 lbs of TNT within a 1/8 mile radius. Not a practical load for an RV.
The carrier wins the blast race.
It would therefore, at a minimum, that the RV be nuclear in the 5 - 10 kT range. Doable, but then you bring the entire US nuclear umbrella down on your head.
We loose a carrier, you loose your country and a few hundred million to nuclear strikes.
We win and send the Marines in to polish the glass of the new worlds largest optical telescopes.
If you want to defeat a carrier strike group, ignore the carrier. Go after it's defensive armada.
If the destroyers, cruisers and subs are gone, a naked carrier is no threat.

Don’t forget, a carrier group is surrounded by guided missile destroyers and maybe a GM ageis cruiser. Anything that gets within 250 miles of a carrier is tracked and no IFF will get you an F-18 buddy.
