Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words do lasting damage.

The problem with this is that when people hold their tongues, they withhold the truth.
Just ask any Muslim.

My ex-mother in law told me that their father always called her and her two sisters morons, constantly. All three of them failed out of school.

Perhaps the unkindest propaganda of all
(Fat is Beautiful)....
"How much hurt, how much damage can be done by chance remarks!"...a perfect example of that was the Very Bad Day for Donald Sterling when his squeeze illegally taped his remarks....that they were his private remarks...the press and noted pundits proclaimed his words offensive and disturbing...hung him out before facts were known. Mr. Sterling was,is, will be a JERK...but we don't hang people for being a jerk...the only broken law was the illegal taping by V. Stiviano.

Excellent article that ties several extremely important Biblical truths together.
An important parallel subject to “Life and Death are in the power of the tongue” is what people say to themselves, programming themselves for success or failure by that simple process.
