How about we stop the whole EBT thing, completely? Go back to food depots for the needy, and run them locally.

Stop giving these people money (in any form), and you immediately remove the need for this type of legislation, and you don’t waste time debating the (dubious) merits of the rule(s).

You make far too much sense.

I would go further. Such depots would distribute basic foodstuffs: flour, sugar, cornmeal, salt, canned goods including meat and fish, fresh vegetables, pasta, TVP, powdered eggs and milk. Absolutely no convenience foods.

Of course there would be some problems. Give most EBT recipients a bag of flour, and a packet of yeast and tell them "Here is your loaf of bread" and they would look at you like you were insane. They would not be able to turn these basics into food.

Half the Walmart's and fast food joints would shut down.

The DNC couldn’t have that. Working hard for a living would convert the into middle class Republicans ith conservative values and “homey can’t have ‘dat”...

I like the poor farm concept, give aid to the needy but only if they are willing to move to the poor farm where they will live in spartan accomodations with just the bare necessities of food, clothing, shelter and clean water. Those who are able should work for their keep. In other words let them live as those of us who were born on the farm as I was used to live, working for their keep from the age they are first able to do some small chore. Those who are able to learn should have the opportunity to learn a trade to give them a way to leave the farm and be independent. Of course, this idea is so old and so sensible that it will never be considered.

Good suggestion, but it won't happen unless you can give members of Congress step by step directions on how they can skim more money using your plan than they are now using the EBT card plan.
