If you support segregation in the sports world you get fined and banished. But if you support segregation in the academic world you get tenured and promoted. Sometimes, you even get buildings named after you. I predict that after Chancellor Gary Miller leaves UNC-Wilmington they will name a building after him. I also predict that Miller Hall will have separate water fountains for white and colored people.
My language may sound harsh but it is grounded in reality. Over the last three years, UNCW has become increasingly segregated along the lines of both race and sexual orientation. Recently, for example, the university announced it was having a summit for black faculty and graduate students. Afterwards, the university released a press statement that sounded like it could have been excerpted from Orwell's 1984:
"A summit for black faculty, staff and graduate students in the UNC system drew more than 90 participants to UNC Wilmington. Navigating Challenging Waters: Achieving Success in the Academy was held April 24-25 in the Education Building. It was hosted by the UNC Wilmington Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA), in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion ..."
With straight faces, the university actually boasted that it held a racially segregated event (a "black" summit), sponsored by a racially segregated organization (a "black" association), and did so with the help of an office of "inclusion." These people are so full of nonsense that they see more racism in terms like "these people" than they do in terms like "black association."
But it gets even worse. UNCW has also announced a separate graduation ceremony for homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals, and other "queer-identified" students. The official announcement, written by a UNCW English professor, reads "Join us to celebrate the graduation of LGBTQIA students and those students who have eared {sic} a minor in Women's and Gender Studies."
I hate to be picky but I remember a time when English professors knew how to spell. But that was before the university started to pay them to teach sexual politics and to constantly interject sex into the workplace - as opposed to actually teaching spelling and literature. The criticism may sound harsh, but they've "eared" every bit of it.
So, what's next here at UNCW? Should we further segregate graduation so that white homosexuals have their own graduation ceremony and homosexuals of color have theirs? Maybe we can go further and have "colored queer" and "white queer" restrooms. It's not too much of a stretch. Transsexuals have been trying to get their own bathrooms for years.
Recently, radical leftist UNC professor Gene Nichol compared Governor McCrory to the old segregationist governors of the South. The comparison was wrecked by the fact that all of the old southern racist governors were Democrats. The comparison was also wrecked by the fact that McCrory doesn't support segregation. If he were fair, Nichol would have replaced McCrory's name with that of Gary Miller, who directly oversees a segregated campus.
If Gary Miller loses his job at UNCW - and I predict he's about to - then maybe he should consider buying the L.A. Clippers. It would make sense given his Sterling record on tolerance and inclusion.
“Sexual orientation” is a term I would love to see disappear. “Diversity” is another.
What a messed up world.
The left appears blind to the fact that giving preference to a particular race is racism itself. It’s nonsense to think racism can be used to atone for racism. The only way to truly mend racism is to actually stop practicing it!

It’s not opposed to diversity. I believe different races should be free to live their lives in peace so long as they do no harm to me or mine. What bothers me is the way the left elevates diversity as though it is the single most important thing in the world. They must destroy the perceived majority or anything deemed not diverse enough in order to create “diversity.” It’s a religion to them, and they can’t stop preaching!
Public universities, sadly, usually become government universities.
I wonder if a Christian summit would be allowed.

I so agree with you. Some things are private matters, or used to be. I wish they still were. If you base your entire life on your sexuality, you really need to get a life. Do whatever you want, but for heaven’s sake, stop talking about it!
Does Diversity University have exclusively mooselim/halal dormitories yet?
It’s more than that. It’s the utter, bald-faced hypocrisy of paying lip service to “diversity” while denying the rights of Christians, heterosexuals, whites, or males to influence the discourse. It is extolling the pretended diversity of orthodoxy, while rejecting in the harshest terms any divergent view. It’s the very ANTITHESIS of diversity!

I never thought of myself as having a “sexuality”. I just thought I was a normal male.
