Rahm Emanuel’s motorcade busted for speeding, running red lights: report

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is facing criticism after reports emerged this week that his motorcade was caught speeding and violating other traffic laws at least 20 times since 2012. City vehicles carrying Emanuel were spotted speeding near schools and parks and running red stoplights just shy of two dozen times since 2012, WLS-TV reported this week. The station tracked Chicago’s red light and speed cameras and discovered that the city vehicles known to chauffer Emanuel around regularly break critical traffic safety laws. Infractions included a February incident in which speed camears caught both of Emanuel’s vehicles going more than 10 miles per hour over the limit near a park, according to WLS-TV.

So this crap head just ignores that running red lights could endanger citizens. When his vehicle kills someone, so what!

What’s the use of having a motorcade if you can’t break the law?

Probably afraid that if they stop for a red light someone will assassinate His Honor. Or squeegee him.

‘Course it’s him behaving like this that might give rise to the idea that the Tree of Liberty needs refreshing.

Reminds me of the time when the car of good Democrat, Jon Corzine, governor of New Jersey, was speeding and got in a wreck.

On that occasion, Corzine was on his way to a seminar to vent outrage about Don Imus calling the Rutgers girls basketball team “nappy headed hoes”.

So, he had a good excuse for having his driver speed so he could pile on Don Imus and prove how liberal he was.

I agree and disagree. Do to his position he could be on his way to an emergency situation. I doubt it, but I do not wish to stop other official vehicles who are doing just that. He is elitist scum, but elections have consequences.

Despite Rahm Emanuel's contention that red light and speed cameras are "all about safety," the ABC7 Eyewitness News I-Team learned those same cameras regularly catch the mayor's motorcade running red and speeding.

Typical "Rules for Thee but not for Me" Limousine Liberal. He installs red light cameras and preaches to the public that they increase safety, then routinely violates the law and doesn't get called on it. Libs really do believe that laws are for the other guy.

I guess the question becomes is this running with an escort type in front with lights
or is this just normal going from location to location with no escort?

Actually these motorcades buzzing about are in vogue when a country becomes a banana republic. Might as well get used to it. Next order from the White Hut: everyone will be responsible to have a pocket full of rose petals to toss in the path of his excellency whenever he strolls nearby.

The mayor travels with a mini-motorcade, two unmarked black SUVs equipped with standard police grill lights and sirens.

God forbid he should have to wait while his driver changed a flat.

I’m an EMT. When we’re driving a patient to the hospital, we don’t go lights and sirens if the patient is stable - that’s 90% + of the time. It’s a safety issue, ours, the patient’s, the public’s. Most emergency vehicle accidents occur with lights and sirens.

When I do drive lights and sirens, I slow down at each intersection because drivers may not see or hear me. I slow or stop until I know I’m seen. The purpose of lights and sirens is to make traffic pull-over and to allow for going safely - prudently - through red lights. It is not to go much faster than the posted speed.

Then there is Opti-Com, which turns the lights green for the approaching emergency vehicle and red in the other three directions. Perhaps Chicago’s lights don’t have Opti-Com, or His Honor would be using it to get to baseball or ballet.

the chase vehicle (with all the guns and gubbamint badges) is likely that one running the light.

Or maybe his limo is soooo long that it doesn’t have time to make it through a green light because Rahm is seated back in another zip code.
