Sober woman arrested for DWI after deputy rolls through stop sign

“It was a miracle I wasn’t paralyzed,” Tanya Weyker said about her February 2013 collision with a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The deputy, caught on video, rolled through a stop sign and T-boned Weyker’s car. However Weyker, 25, was charged with drunk driving, according to a report from Fox6Now.com.

After the crash, Weyker said she told deputies she’d taken a few sips of a friend’s drink that night. When a deputy asked why her eyes looked red and glassy, Weyker said she told him he had been crying. According to the report, she also told him she had taken Vicodin after she had her Wisdom teeth removed the week before.

Weyker’s injuries were so severe, deputies could not perform a field sobriety test. She was arrested anyway, on five separate charges including drunk driving causing injury.

“They made me into this criminal,” she said. “I knew I was innocent this whole time.”

In the weeks after the crash, test results showed Weyker had no alcohol nor drugs in her system, Fox6Now.com reported.

She has since filed a complaint against the deputy who arrested her who, she claimed, made up his version of the story to protect himself

No one, not even the original article, has commented on the most important aspect of this incident; Did the cop get home safely?

Nothing else matters.

NOTHING.

Criminal charges?

Heck no! The LEO was just protecting himself and his own from a lawsuit. He will be commended for protecting his overlords.

If she had been a 93 year old black woman in Hearne, Texas, you will be shot.

The cop that killed her killed two people in two years. Most cops never draw their weapons.

Truly best to stay away.

The County needs more Constitutional Sheriffs.

Yes, of course the cop getting home safely is THE most important aspect. But of secondary importance is “DID HE GET A FREE PAID VACATION?”. And the answer to that is yes, as a quick google search shows:

http://fox6now.com/2014/05/01/sober-driver-arrested-for-owi-when-deputy-crashes-into-her/

Extract:

“...Deputy Quiles has not worked in more than a year since the crash. He has exhausted his injury pay and has now filed for permanent duty disability for injuries he suffered in the crash he caused. His application is still pending before the County’s Employee Retirement System.

All of this is happening, despite the fact that reports written at the time of the crash indicate Deputy Quiles suffered only minor injuries and was “treated and released” at Froedtert Hospital....”

Oh, the benefits of our dear government overlords and enforcers!

NEVER TALK TO COPS!!! Know the law. License, registration, and insurance. Aside from that you don’t say a word.

That's all well and good, but what do you say when questioned?

Do you just keep repeating, "Am I free to go?", "Am I being detained?" to the point of irritating our public servant LEO?

What should be the responses when asked questions during a traffic stop or during a DUI checkpoint/roadblock?

I saw one in CA turn his lights on just so he didn’t have to wait at a traffic light.
A block later, lights went off and he continued at posted speed.

They won’t. Good cops are too hard to find in today’s applicant pool. I’ve always said that cops and bad guys have an almost identical psychological make up. That’s how the really good ones catch the bad guys. But even after all the psych exams and testing we (the hiring public) get stuck with the biggest bozos, ego tripping narcissist, who can’t get out each other’s way fast enough to see who can do the dumbest stuff...

I personally think those questions should be repeated to the point of irritation. Other good ones are "I'm not doing you any favors" and "what was the probable cause or reasonable suspicion behind the stop". "Am I free to go" sounds more reasonable in comparison ;)

You are not required to answer anything. It is none of LEO’s business where I was, where I am going or anything else. 5th amendmemt is there for a reason.

WHAT AN IDIOT. NEVER tell the pigs that you had a sip, or a drink, or two. It sets them into MADD Mode and you WILL LOSE.

Hopefully she learns her lesson here.

Officer Quiles is an Affirmative Action appointee, a Triple A.

I.E., as an Hispanic, he was more than likely given a special "minority" police exam, or automatically given points to pass. He is also a slob, looks physically unfit, and to my jaundiced eye, looks like a drinker. It is he who should have been "field-tested" for sobriety.

Some bad news for you all. Many Mexicans and Central Americans are genetically closer to Amerindians than to Europeans, and are thus may well be unable to process alcohol. Translation: bad drunks.

This is going to cost the county big time.
