Grace Choi was at Harvard Business School when she decided to disrupt the beauty industry.
"They charge a huge premium on something that tech provides for free color."
color printers are available to everyone, and the ink they have is the same as the ink that makeup companies use in their products. the ink is FDA-approved.
This is the Mink printer. It uses regular printer ink.
First, find a color you want to print.
Use the color picker to copy the hex code of the color you've chosen.
paste the hex code into a new document.
Print the color just as you'd print any other document
This is what the finished product looks like.
Choi dips a makeup brush in the freshly printed powder to show it really is makeup.
Then she brushes the pink on her hand. "Mink enables the web to become the biggest beauty store in the world."

3-D printing...the next “illegal” lawyer laden frontier. How long before you are sued for wearing a color copyrighted by a make up business?

LOL...no additive processes, no subtractive processes, no waiting for hours for a part to build up thin layer by thin layer, no laser sintering. Nope, just mixing powders.
She’ll have to do better than telling people to “copy hex codes” however.

Brilliant! Men, do you know how much your wives/daughters/girlfriends spend on makeup? Her coast of about $300 is less than a make over at a good beauty counter if one buys all the product used. In many women’s lives this will easily pay for it’s self. I rarely buy makeup and don’t wear much, but spent easily over $150 last month for business related activities. Most of that was spent at Walmart and not a makeup counter. Teen girls will go nuts over this. It’s going on my Christmas list with the hoverboard that’s supposed to come out in the Fall.
