About a year ago, 1010RD pointed out the road to repeal of the 17th is to appeal to man's desire for power. No one in government, even the most altruistic, wouldn't be there if he didn't like political power and wanted more of it.

Conservative state legislators aren't the only ones to see and feel prosperity and freedom slipping away. I suspect there may be more state level support for repeal of the 17th than we realize.

The LEFT cannot get the 2/3rds of the state legislatures necessary to call a convention of state. However, with Boehner and the rest of the traitorous Pubbies in Congress ready to pass an Amnesty bomb, the window of opportunity is closing. Red States must act now to correct the federal overreach and restore the Constitution while they have the chance.

This is in fact why State level political leaders are our greatest hope for Reining in Washington if and only if we are able to cripple the Federal response, leaving our State with the last effective word.

This isn’t as hard as we might think it is because in most areas Washington is still designed to not work without consent. We therefore don’t need an absolute majority merely a large enough minority to bring deadlock.

That was the whole propose of the 2010 elections and it continues to be our most important weapon moving into 2014.
In this vacuum State leaders can establish precedence, and more importantly political understanding of State control in theses areas.

That in the minds of our public establishes a political foundation in which we can wage our war for self-government. The high profile battles between Federal and State authority are themselves also critical to establishing in the political consciousness that all is not well. That people want freedom and self-determination.

All that being said we must still do our best to obtain control of the Senate, the house, and eventually the presidency. Eventually the pendulum must swing to the other side and then we can Get the Democratic base active in supporting States rights, as well as force our own leaders to cut themselves down in theses areas.

In this last respect, while we may not have right to expect much more than we have seen in the past few decades from Republicans in Downsizing Washington, we can uses our State Government leaders Greed for power to sease still more territory. While using the same minority along with Democrats to Deadlock Federal Responses.

Just to be clear in terms of Territory I of course am referring to Political sphere of government as well as Physical territory in the case of the western States. Whom I expect and indeed urge to continue to make all possible efforts to annex as much of the remaing Areas of their State From Federal Ownership & control as possible.

As in All other respects they will never have more opportunity to strike a good deal, as they will with a republican president, although that wont make it easy. Republicans at the State level tend not to want to create ‘crises’ for Republicans In Washington just as Democrats vice versa.

It is nonetheless Vital in the political conventions that we make sure both partys understand behind closed doors what is to be done and what is expected of them.

Our States must claim new ground, and Washington must cave to their demands if not legally then practically.

Well said. Reclamation of state power relinquished in 1913 is there for the taking. Congress can't do a thing to prevent it.

When I spoke with my FL state assemblyman last year, he freely admitted he was unaware of Article V, the 17th, and didn't really understand the Framers’ design. There is a whole lot of educating that needs to be done.
