There was a time when people looking for intellectual debate turned away from politics to the university. Political backrooms bred slogans and bagmen; universities fostered educated discussion. But when students in the 1960s began occupying university property like the thugs of regimes America was fighting abroad, the venues gradually reversed. Open debate is now protected only in the polity: In universities, muggers prevail.

As our Ivy-covered North Koreas march on!

Partial transcript of 1985 video interview of KGB defector Yuri Alexander Bezmenov:

"Most of the people who (reeducated) in the sixties, drop-outs or half-baked intellectuals are now occupying the positions of power in the Government, civil service, business, mass media, educational system. You are stuck with them. You cannot get rid of them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information, even if you prove that white is white and black is black you still cannot change the basic perception and illogical behavior."

"In other words, these people, the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible. To get rid society of these people you need another twenty or fifteen years to educate a new generation of patriotically-minded and commonsense people who would be acting in favor and in the interests of the United States society."

It’s all just one big playground now; if students spent half they time they waste boozing in study halls, they would graduate a lot quicker, with better grades, and likely they would be a lot smarter and more credible as people a business can hire and end up not having to babysit.

Yet, instead they spend all their time protesting and thinking they can change the world. They cook at Starbucks and whine about a ‘livable wage.’ Our universities are pretty much a joke and frankly these students are doing the damage, not to themselves, but also the country.

Cowards, and lilly-livered leftists occupy universities. These men are evil masked in a smile.

And parents are to blame as they bankroll these romper rooms. When students flunk out, they move to cup cake majors with no job prospects.... and the parent's bank roll. My daughter got a 2.25 the first semester ... before returning the 2nd semester I told her, to be clear, if you perform this way again you can live at home and go to the community college.

Frankly, I think its pretty much a lost cause.

What I’ve discovered in talking to recent engineering graduates, (I’ve been in Oil & Gas industry for 30 years), who are white or Hispanic, (there aren’t many Blacks interested in Petroleum Engineering), the whole Diversity indoctrination and the “check your privilege” business has created a hostile environment for whites on campus. It isn’t that the non-white students or professors exhibit active hostility, but rather that the whites and some of the Hispanics feel like they’ve got a target on their backs.

The end result is that these programs poisoned the Collegiate experience. They spent as little time on Campus as possible and avoided the “Liberal Arts” classes as much as possible. Another side-effect of these type programs is that the campus becomes “Balkanized” such that people are pretty much forced to avoid association with others not like themselves. Another result has been that there’s a minimum of verbal engagement. From what I’ve been told, it produces a pretty sad experience.

Since posting, I ran across more comments from KGB Operative/Soviet defector, Yuri Alexander Bezmenov on that video that speaks volumes of what is going on in our education system:

"Ideological subversion is the process which is legitimate overt and open, you can see it with your own eyes. All you can do, all Americans needs to do is to unplug their bananas from their ears, open up their eyes and they can see. There is no mystery. It has nothing to do with espionage…. It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first one being demoralization. It takes from fifteen to twenty years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate on generation of students in the country of your enemy, exposed to the ideology of the enemy. In other words, Marxism, Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least three generations of American students, without being challenged or contra-balanced by the basic values of Americanism, American patriotism….
