‘Inequality’ insanity
NY Post ^ | May 11, 2014 | Charles Gasparino

The right is dropping the ball when it comes to Thomas Piketty’s much heralded and totally flawed book on inequality, “Capital in the 21st Century.” This long and lugubrious opus is really an open sore, replete with so much absurdity that shooting it down should be like shooting fish in a barrel.

The left has embraced this rant against capitalism — and conservatives should be tying them to it, to expose where all the class-war rhetoric would really bring us.

I am going to comment before reading the article, but the problem here is, unless people (liberals and other low information voters) are willing to break from the basic flawed premise that redistribution of wealth results in prosperity, then we as conservatives can argue and expose all we want, but it isn’t going to do any good.

Unless the cancer is rooted out at the source (that is, powerful liberal politicians, academics, influential media personalities and the media in general) then it will be the beast that simply will not die.

Like global warmists, the socialists are content to keep pushing, pushing, and pushing their flawed ideas until there is a letdown on our side and they move the ratchet another notch tighter.

And the process begins again.

It is a multi-front war.

“Unless the cancer is rooted out at the source (that is, powerful liberal politicians, academics, influential media personalities and the media in general) then it will be the beast that simply will not die.”

Which of the fronts is the weakest and should be attacked first?

This is exactly what KGB defector Yuri Alexander Bezmenov mentioned in a 1985 video interview:

"Most of the people who (reeducated) in the sixties, drop-outs or half-baked
intellectuals are now occupying the positions of power in the Government, civil service, business, mass media, educational system. You are stuck with them. You cannot get rid of them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information, even if you prove that white is white and black is black you still cannot change the basic perception and illogical behavior."

"In other words, these people, the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible. To get rid society of these people you need another twenty or fifteen years to educate a new generation of patriotically-minded and commonsense people who would be acting in favor and in the interests of the United States society."

Yeah. I went back and read the article afterwards, and the author probably had me in mind when he said:

...Maybe conservatives just think the best thing to do is ignore Piketty and his fellow worshippers. So far that isn’t working; the French author is destined to make millions as his book sales soar and he achieves rock-star status. Meanwhile, both he and his bizarre theories gain currency because conservatives have ceded the intellectual debate to a Frenchman who just a few weeks ago couldn’t get a table at the Olive Garden..."

The problem is, people like Piketty are like cockroaches, and the people they are preaching to have the attention span of a Golden Retriever when a squirrel scurries into their fields of view.

There is no past. There is only what they say the present is, and what they say the future is. If one tries to point out the massive failure in socialist economies everywhere they have been tried, those are simply thrown down the memory hole and rationalized away.

When one of them is discredited, 100 more step up. And it is because they are simpleminded ideas that sound brilliant and great to the deliberately obtuse, overly optimistic, weak minded/strong hearted, and uninformed.

Yeah, I guess it is true. Many of us HAVE ceded that ground, probably myself as well. Not proud of it, but it seems like an impossible task, almost as if the only way they will get it is to experience the hell of it.

And all of us who know it is bunk will end up riding that rail with them.
