Rob Gray and his brother-in-law said they were walking down River Street enjoying the sites with their families when they were confronted by a man. Then, a mob attacked them.
“I took a punch to my eye and cracked my orbital,” said Gray.
“I was grabbed by the back of my head at a full run and he smashed my head into the car and I hit the ground,” said Jim Thomas. "This was a violent, malicious attack on a family of eight people."
Thomas says the attackers went after his wife as well.
"There was a man holding her by the nape of her neck, with her hair and dragging her," said Thomas.
And even his daughter was attacked.
"My 6-year-old daughter was punched in the stomach by an adult," he said.
The men say they didn’t see an officer for more than 20 minutes after the attack.

What you describe is not what I wrote. Respectfully, I call your attention to the fact that the the black male pushed the child first. Are you suggesting the White male should have apologized to the Black male attacker because the Black male physically attacked his child?
Aplogizing for Urban Feral attacks is a tough job, one I suggest best left to professional race card players sch as Jackson, Sharpton Holder ad nauseam.
As a firearms instructor, I agree with avoiding a fight when possible, but self preservation now means, in cities with Urban Feral populations, knowing when to shoot.
IMHO, that man is fortunate to have escaped more serious injury/death. Ask yourself what would have happened to the 13 year old white female in the hands of a Black Urban Feral mob.

Yes, absolutely!
He was in a black community, he was the intruder, not the other way around. The area has more than double the number of black residents than white residents, and on a Sat night, it is even more skewed.
He was wrong to take his family there. He was lucky.

There is a hatred there that isn’t normally seen with other groups but has become S.O.P. for them. I’m not a tough guy and would avoid a confrontation (with anyone), but I also have the foresight to avoid many with the 100:1 rule (it isn;t hard to do).

I don't live in Savannah (I do live in GA), but I hear it has become a bit dangerous...as has Savannah.

WATCH NOW: The Security Video from the Mother’s Day River Street incident. It starts where police say one family passed the other family and words were exchanged. SAVANNAH, GA. (May 13, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police detectives continue to collect and review videos of an altercation between what appears to be two families on River Street Saturday night and are seeking participants to complete their investigation.
Downtown Precinct detectives would like to interview three males and two females about the altercation which took place near Rousakis Plaza about 9:48 p.m.
Videos being reviewed by detectives show two large groups of people, each including children, walking on River Street. When one group encountered eight members of an Atlanta family standing on the sidewalk, one male avoided contact by walking into River Street while a male and female worked their way through the family.
Just after that male walked through the cluster of family members, he was confronted by one or two males in the family and a verbal altercation ensued. The male who had walked around the family pulled the other male away and they left. But one of the males in the Atlanta family continued to talk to him. He broke free from the male who was leading him away and ran back into the crowd where a fight ensued, with members of both groups trying to break it up.
The video does show a female with the second group trying to separate the parties and pulling a female family member away by her hair. But detectives could find no sign of a 6-year-old or 13-year-old child being punched, as a member of the family announced in a Facebook posting.
Police were on scene within 10 minutes of the first call, but the second group had left by then. The videos showed that members of both groups were carrying beverages and officers on scene reported a heavy odor of alcohol.
“We certainly understand the frustration of a family who came to Savannah for an enjoyable weekend and ended up with injuries from an unpleasant situation,” said Police Chief Julie Tolbert. “But preliminary investigations show this was not a random act. We will continue to determine all the facts as we move forward.”
Detectives are asking members of the second group, which appeared to be a family with children and an older couple, to come forward and provide their version of the altercation. One male was wearing a yellow shirt, the other a red shirt and later took it off and was wearing a white tank top. A younger female was wearing a white skirt or shorts and a beige or yellow top. The elder male was wearing all white and a white hat. They are asked to contact Downtown Precinct detectives via the SCMPD non-emergency number (912) 651-6500.

Took a quick look, hard to tell what exactly went on. Crowd actually looked pretty racially diverse. Way too many people around to start slinging lead.

No shortage of witnesses but it will be difficult at that distance to get a clear picture of what happened.
That said, if this event gets wide coverage in GA and SC, the businesses on River St and Savannah will pay a significant price.
I even had friends that flew down to Sav for the weekend from CT a few months back (just for sightseeing). This kind of thing would have prevented their trip.

I think that in viewing some of the FB posts on the local station, that the sides are lining up behind whomever floats their boat. Amazing that some presume to know what was said, that provoked the beat down, yet they weren’t there. The pic shows a lot of people watched this go down. Shouldn’t be any shortage of witnesses. Possibly a shortage of “willing” witnesses no doubt.
Hopefully, the Police Department might put a small precinct in the NE, NW historic downtown river district since those businesses count on tourism as well as local bucks coming in. Perhaps one of the businesses (as we have where i live), will donate some space for officers to “write their reports” and thus will be around more? but what do I know?

Having grown up in an earlier era in American history when I could safely live with a friend in the Miami Central Negro District(CND) one summer (Bill’s mother was a black educator), I can assure you that the CND is far less safe now than then, less safe for both white and black.
Alas, it seems Obama and the race card crowd have caused an enormous arming up of America, mostly white America becuse they see what is coming - more of teh behavior we are talking about.

In closing, thank you for your concern regarding possible legal issues. While I appreciate your concerns in that area, the defense of American standards of behavior, law, and our Constitution guaranteed freedoms, by all Americans must take come first.
Whether a city is white, black, Latino, Oriental, whatever - can not(and must not) be a factor in whether we are safe in such cities. Safety is such areas is of paramount importance to visitor, even more so to the residents - lest our cities become just like other Turd World cities.
