Shelly Sterling Accuses NBA of Sexism in Clippers Ownership Fight
LA Times ^ | May 13, 2014 | Joshua Serna

Shelly Sterling defended her right to hold onto her stake in the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, telling NBC’s Savannah Guthrie it's sexist for the NBA to punish her for the actions of her husband, who she claimed suffers from dementia.

The Clippers have been operating under a cloud in the weeks since the celebrity website TMZ released an audio recording in which Donald Sterling, 80, told frequent court-side guest V. Stiviano that he did not want to see her at games with black people. Days later, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver fined Sterling $2.5 million, banned him for life from the league and began a drive to get at least three-fourths of team owners to separate the Clippers boss from the franchise.

Shelly Sterling, however, has made it clear she wants to keep her 50% stake in the team, and told Guthrie in an interview that aired Tuesday on the "Today" show that it was sexist of the league to also force her to sell.

Oooh. Sexism. Is that a capital crime? The liberal elite really has had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for a new social rallying cry in which to heap 'white guilt' on in conjuring up some new prejudicial premise for her husband's sacrificial penalty for crimes against humanity. Well, 'sexism' is a variation on misogyny that doesn't seem to carry the same legal gravity that they're hoping 'sexism' does. The NBA is cowering in fear, the new ultimate social crime, "sexism", unsheathed by the finest legal team in an attempt to save an NBA team from being a modern day '40 acres and a mule'.

Nice move by Shelly; does the sexism card trump the racism card? This whole story just alerted me as to how far removed from what the media would like to protray as “mainstream”. Watching feminists fight race-pimps is like watching Hitler fight Stalin; who would root for either side?

“Oooh. Sexism. Is that a capital crime? ...”

Absolutely.

Good to see the elite hoisted on their own petard.

Sexism works. She is female after all, and that does count for something in “I’m a protected class, too!” mindset that is predominate in our culture today.

I like it - well played.

With everyone throwing around stupid slogans and ridiculous charges, the whole thing turns into a farce, and Shelly wins.

The Sterlings’ only hope is for Donald to come out as being Gay, and for Shelly to come out as Transgendered.

“What a lunatic country.”

I don’t think our country is lunatic. The purveyors of the secular/socialist/humanist PC media agenda are lunatics. When I travel I meet many good, normal, God-fearing people in this great country.

No, punishing her husband is Shelly's divorce attorney's job.

Shelly is smart, she is throwing the sexism card right back in the face of the libs..let’s see how they respond..the Sterling family has every right to keep the team, Donald bought it fair and square, with his own money, no one should be able to force him to sell what is his

As institutions embrace lunacy, we must no longer embrace them. The NBA and NFL are now irrelevant sideshow spectacles. Just like Democrats, there is no point in energizing them by actively opposing them - just ignore them.

The actions of the NBA in this manner is only an effort to appease the players’ union in order to prevent a work stoppage during the playoffs.

Once the season is over, this will all blow over for the most part. If Sterling does have dementia, it will be impossible to force a sale and also provide an excuse for his erratic behavior.
