First I heard of it, I should check the local news occasionally.

From the article: "Fire season last year never really ended in Southern California," Berlant said. His agency has responded to more than 1,350 fires since Jan. 1, compared to an average of 700 by this time of year.

Drought in Southern CA all the way up to San Francisco plus record-high temperatures make the CA fire outlook very worrying this year.

Are the Chinese monkeying with the weather? Because this winter was ridiculously unusual all over the USA.

The evacuation area is south and west of the Rancho Bernardo Area. The RB high school is one of the evacuation centers. Torrey Pines high school was an evacuation center, but it has now been closed because there is too much smoke there.

Hope this helps.

I drove by the area (Mira Mesa) on I-5 twice this afternoon and it’s already taken out over 700 acres of brush. The wind is the primary problem with this fire.

It’s Crazy, they just sold their house, and were able to rent it back from the new owner until they leave May 27! Hope this misses them. My Daughter said well we won’t have to pack much if it comes here.

A bunch of my co-workers got reverse 911 and headed out the door to evacuate their homes. One has a horse to rescue too.

Odd weather in SoCal. Three Santa Anna type events recently.
I’ve been here since 1996 and don’t recall Santa Ana’s this time of year. They usually occur in the fall

Is this fire anywhere near Cardiff-by-the-Sea? I have relatives in that community.

My mistake, I was driving back from Mira Mesa when I first noticed the fire in Rancho Bernardo. At least that’s where I think the first one was. I could see it from I-5 very easily while I was driving North between the Del Mar Heights exit and Lomas Santa Fe Drive exits.
